Whenever I start to "run," there's a POP of textures getting stretched wide for what is probably only two or three frames.  However, it is something that is very clearly happening.

Not a game ruiner or anything, but I'm curious, is this normal and just how the game is, or is it technically a bug? Does anyone NOT have this problem?

I'm using an ATI Radeon 4870 (I believe, it's 4800 HD series).

1) Please register the game on the forums. This is not an accusation, but given the spate of users with illegally downloaded copies coming to the forums asking for help, forum registration is the only way we can be sure we are dealing with a legit copy. Illegally downloaded copies include hacked and modified files which could be either corrupt, or full of malware. Once its registered, we will be happy to help.

2) Please post your specs as per this thread: http://social.biowar...6/index/4795299

I used to have this in very old games using a very old Geforce 2. I fixed it by updating the driver version. It's probably a good idea if you could post your video driver version along with the rest of your PC specs.

I thought my game was registered. I have the special edition, got it the day it came out. 3 disks, hard metal cover, plus I have all the DLC.

Driver is the most recent, Catalyst Control Center 11.1 [update: now it's the latest version, dated March 29th, 2011, still the same issue.]

I also double checked, the card is the 4870 with a gig of RAM.

Okay, I have discovered that this only happens when you're in action or attack mode (i.e. you can take out your gun). When not in this mode, even in the same location (such as Omega) the bug does not show up.  It's only when I have my gun and I run, and about 4 out of every 5 times the stretches stretch out for a second. So if it's an ATI exploit, it's still something in the game triggering it.

Any news on this? Is it just an ATI tiny glitch? It happens...

Contact EA, as they provide official tech support for ME2.
You have been told what we need in order to help troubleshoot this, but you have decided to ignore it. As a result, we will ignore you.

"Contact EA, as they provide official tech support for ME2."

I just did. They said it was an ATI problem.

Now, I've registered my game and posted my video card information. My cpu has nothing to do with this, nor does my RAM. It's definitely a video card problem. I'm using Windows 7, CCC 11.3 now, I'm always up to date on that.

This isn't a "HOW DO I FIX THIS???" problem. It's a, does anyone else have this issue? Is it a wide ATI issue, an overall ME2 issue, or something odd about my computer? It's just a minor thing, but it's there.

Also... sometimes in cut scenes, you see the graphics jump a bit for character motion, but not the backgrounds.

My question is simple: are these little graphics glitches video card specific, or are some inherent with ME2? Basically... am I alone?

No need to be rude or hostile. So much anger on the Internet, so much anger... haven't you ever heard, "if you can't say something nice, just shut the f--k up?"

There's no evidence of it (ownership of the required software). Look under my own portrait for DA:O, DA2, and ME-2 icons to show that I have, indeed, registered all three with my profile here.

You mean it's a separate registration from the original registration of the game? I thought since this was the official website that was all connected... how do I sync that up? Thanks. (I've switched computers, would that matter?)

Okay, I went back and did what I did before... now I see the ME2 icon. No idea why it wasn't there before.

So now that I'm no longer being accused of being a pirate (like I would pirate a game and then come onto the official message boards of that game and ask about a minor graphics detail), any ideas... are these just glitches with the game, or with the UT3 engine and ATI cards?

I've used an HD 3870, an HD 4850, and a Geforce 9800 GT (different PCs) with ME-2, and the odd stretching symptom you described didn't show up. I haven't upgraded the drivers for the Geforce card to particularly new versions, since those conflict with many games when using 8n00 and 9n00 cards.

How many of the Radeon drivers have you tested? I think I was running some year-old ones the last time I played this game very much. Also, have you checked to see if you have a recent version of Dx9.0c?

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've tried it with CCC 10.1, 10.2, 11.1, 11.2 and 11.3 (all versions I've had since having ME2). I believe I have the latest DirectX, but I will check, last time I updated that was when I switched to Windows 7 about 6 months ago. I've noticed Unreal Tournament 3 also has some very, very minor issues with sky seen through windows where it "pops" in.

Re-installed Direct X just to be safe (June 2010 package), Direct X 11, still have the issue. I was kinda hoping it was just a game thing, but now I'm curious... something has to be causing it. I actually have a similar problem in Crysis, where enemy soldiers will see their textures "pop" every once in a while.

Doesn't make sense. In ME2, it only happens when in combat mode. If I can't use my gun, I can sprint to my hearts content and nothing gets stretched.

Watching the (awesome) new gameplay vids for Mass Effect 3 from E3, I've noticed the EXACT SAME GLITCH in the playthrough modes, especially the extended playthrough number 1 when diving and rolling. Guess it's not just me. If you watch those, that's exactly what the problem is!
