@JKoopman: You talked to Lorik Qui'in for a total of two minutes and he had an obvious personality. So did Liara, to a degree--awkward and airy. That first impression is vital.

Shiala has made not one, but two lackluster appearances. Bioware does not seem to be interested in developing her character. If they were, they would have given her more personality in her introduction.

I know a plot device when I see one.

It's a pity, though, since she could have been pretty cool.  As it is, though, blech.

2:00 AM and in the internet... I have no life. On topic, I don't like the idea. I don't want to sound racist, but having 3 possible Asari squadmates in ME3 is a little overboard.

Liara (confirmed)
Samara/Morinth (possible)
Shiala (Incredibly unlikely)

It's like saying that Mordin's mentally unstable student would be a squadmate if you spare him. There are too many possible variables. First, Shiala can be executed by Shepard in ME1, and I haven't played the PS3 ver. but if they eliminated Conrad, they probably took out Shial as well seeing as she has an even lower cameo then him. Conrad for squadmate? NO. Shiala? NO.

Liara confirmed as a squadmate in ME3? What on earth are you babbling about?

I don't see Bioware making Shiala a possible squadmate. Minor character that isn't necessarily even alive in your game. Not the best choice for possible major character. I even worry what they are going to do with all the previous squaddies, since Liara is the only one that is certain to be alive in ME3. I would however be quite surprised if she doesn't make an appearance at all.

They said it here or in some interview when ME2 first came out. No, Im not looking for it. It's 1 year old, I ain't doing that. It's the reason why she wasn't a squadmate in ME2, since she could die. Same with the VS.

Well my mad googling skills turned up nothing. If someone can dig up this info, I would appreciate it.

Shiala is seriously cool. Come on - how many Asari Commandos has Shepherd teamed up with yet ? None ! Hey - I'm not dissing the STG special ops branch guys at all. It's just they aren't as good looking. ( Stop blinking in disbelief Major K ! ). "Hold the Line !"

A green Asari on your team would be very very cool just for the unique aspect. Is it likely? Hell no.

I just heard a bursting bubble :)

So can Wrex and the Citadel Council. Same story when you use a default ME2 Shep. I'm just saying...

It's not like those decisions are "throwaway" choices. I don't know why Bioware chose to release ME2 on PS3 without giving the players the option to choose their past decisions (since EA has no plans to release ME1 on the PS3, which I honestly view as kind of unfair), but I don't think those who have played ME1-through should be punished for it.

I don't think it's going to happen. BioWare would have to screw over all of the PS3 players, because she's not even in it, and they would also have to screw over the Renegade players...

They kinda deserve it for being d***s and shooting her for a dumb reason.

Renegade Shep kills people. One should not be punished for playing the game the way BioWare intended.

It's the James T. Kirk syndrome.

Yeah, that's right.
Make a game with choices.
Then make the choices not matter.

Choices will matter, but that choice will not. BioWare will not make Shiala a squad mate in ME3. I guarantee it. A random encounter? Perhaps. Hell, she might even be a booty call. But not a squad mate.

I find there are compelling reasons to include Shiala as a significant character in Mass Effect 3. The fact that she possesses the Prothean cipher, and her knowledge of the Reapers and indoctrination make her quite relevant to the upcoming events.

My hope is the developers intend to feature the consequences of player’s choices in this final chapter. If the game responds to our previous decisions (not simply a change in the final epilog) it makes the players decisions more relevant and creates a game experience that feels customized.

The sparing/execution of Shiala is a definitive choice the player is given. The fact that she can be killed should not dissuade her inclusion in the final game. Instead it can exemplify the significance of the player’s choices throughout the game. If the player at any time regrets their decisions they have the ability to go back and replay the game for a more suitable result.

I am not suggesting that the developers devote the resources to every npc you may decide to spare; only to ones like the Rachni Queen who can be seen to have a meaningfully impact the overarching storyline.

What is it exactly that makes her so appealing? she's had about as much character development as Conrad Verner. You may as well be asking for him as a squad-mate (which would be awesome)

And whos fault is that?

ME1 Players shouldn't be limited by people who just recently discovered Mass Effect.

Nah. I'd rather they expend resources on already established and important characters. Not an asari with only a few lines who doesn't really do anything.

Why is there any sort of movement for Shiala as a squaddie? She was barely given a chance to establish personality. The only thing we know about her past is that she was a follower of Benezia. That is literally all.

Sure, fine by me. Make them romanceable for all Shepards too. Some more imaginative design than the asari would be nice though.

But about Shiala, I can imagine there will always be one token asari but with Liaras return I got the feeling that place is already taken. And Shialas story does have potential. Also I personaly like green better than blue.

Again, and whos fault is that? In Bioware's attempt not to punish PS3 players, they are punishing PC/360 players whos been there since 2007.
