Those who killed her could get a thorian clone(produced by Exo Geni). It wouldnt be difficult and would be interesting.

Thats not bad at all... Or they could just retcon her like they always do in their games.
The people whining about her possible death in some saves apperently havent understood that the entire cast of ME2 could perish

Did you play ME1?  Shiala was a critical plot character - the entirety of feros would have been pointless without her to impart the Prothean cypher to Shepard, this makes her the only other person in the galaxy with an in-depth understanding of the protheans.

Possible spoilers>>>

Given Liara's comment regarding the shadow brokers interest in the Protheans at the end of Lair, I get the impression that there is still a part for the protheans to play in Me3.  Shiala would fit in nicely here.

I doubt she's that important to ME3's plot. Shepard has the Cifer or whatever it's called now.

As for squadmate, I already have two other asari and one of them is guaranteed to come back in ME3. Isn't that enough?

Got a strong feeling [random ME1 NPC]'s gonna be a ME3 squaddie...

I'm almost completely sure that this has been brought up before, as the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

When you land on [hub world] in ME2, you run into [random ME1 NPC] who talks about [stuff relating to what they did in ME1]. S/he then [says goodbye in a signature way], then leaves. MY guess is that somewhere in ME3's campaign, we'll be heading back to [place we met NPC in ME1] to fend off a Reaper attack. In doing so, we'll pick up [NPC] along the way.

EDIT: Oh, the blissful ignorance of paragonity. S/he can be killed... :C

You can do this with Gianna, Conrad, Fist, Helena Blake, and possibly a few others I forgot to mention.

Helena Blake for squadmate.

Oh snap, really?  I always talked her down--never fought her.

Damn.  I actually kind of want her as a squaddie now.  She's way more fun than Shiala.

She won't, not all squadmates will stay after SM, so side character just doesn't have any chance.
Still no reason to worry, Bioware remember about her. Even if she isn't a squadmate her story isn't finished.

You can indeed do this with all of the above. But none of them has had any support to be squaddie like Shiala.
So why you gotta ****** on the parade man? Shiala as a squadmate ruins the game for you?

Why do you think Tali was made an LI? Because it fitted her character? No. Because fans liked her and wanted more.

^How it didn't fit her character?

Besides she was originally made to be LI in ME1 before massive cuts.
Same for Garrus and gay romances.

So by that logic then NONE of the ME2 squadmates should return as potential squadmates in ME3 because essentially, they could be killed as well.

PS3 players have access to them, plus, you know, they aren't random-ass NPCs.

I wouldn’t characterize the support Shiala receives as some random act. I find her background pertinent to the arrival of the Reapers making her distinct and uniquely relevant to the story.

Yes.  Yes it would.

Romance dialogue and a short cutscene takes up less disk space than making a WHOLE NEW SQUADMATE out of an NPC that is does not exist 100% of the time on the PS3 and is dead in renegade playthroughs.

Well, yeah, so is TIM's.  And he has a pretty big fanbase, too.  And plot armor.

She wasnt at all interested in you romantically in ME1? The same sex with ash and kaidan is true(hidden dialogue) but the tali romance didnt even leave the drawing board.

Just because bioware added that she was in love with you since ME1 in ME2 doesnt make it so. She wouldnt even have been an LI if it wasnt for the fanbase outcry for it. Same for garrus

They are already making new squadmates -.- Doesnt matter if you whine about your little diskspace problem or them taking away screentime from your precious me2 squad. They will do it anyway. So why not make one of these new sqauddies Shiala instead of random man nr 12?

Because new characters are more exciting than that one green and purple lady who had tentacle/brain sex with a plant.  Not to mention she's only accessible to ME1 paragon players.

The only NPCs that you can possibly get as new squad mates are those with plot armor in ME1 and 2 like Gavorn, Aria, refund guy ... Anyone who can die during a sidequest like Shiala, Kal Reagar,... has next to zero chanche to get more than a one minute talk with Shepard in ME3. Their role is too insignificant to make it into the comic, and they will be asumed dead unless you import a save game.

She's alive for me in 4 out of 6 Renegade Shep's.

But I get your point and I agree with it.

That is the only sensible reason you have given so far. So you would rather have a fresh face. Thats fine.

Instead of going on about discspace(making new squaddies anyway), her being killable(as is whole me2 sqaud).

In my defense, I didn't hate her until I met her fanbase.

Actually, I kind of like her.  She's mysterious and mellow.  But this "ZOMG MAKE HER A SQUADMATE" silliness drives me batty.

I'd rather take James instead of Shiala.

He has probably more practical use than her.

Did I mention she's also kind of boring and unimportant?  She was a plot device that hit on you.

And I think BEING COMPLETELY UNAVAILABLE TO PURE RENEGADES AND PS3 OWNERS is a big deal.  Even if she was the best ME1 NPC ever, I'd still be on the "no" side of this.
