Ah valentines day. The one day of the year where we can have a night in that doesn't turn into a fight by midnight. Anytime the other half gives me any grief today i just remind her she isn't allowed to be ****y all day tis fun

My love-o-meter is set at 0% for today and the last week or so. Good thing too. And no one loves me, which at least makes me feel better. I get creeped by love confessions. Like seriously. Phew.

If only I could be that way. Not loving is cake. All love usually brings me is anguish--which is why I quit actively pursuing it years ago. As far as people in my life go, my parents, sisters, and best friends qualify under my definition of love.

I have often mused over Valentine's Day. It is one of the most curiously specific holidays, and by definition should be treated as important considering how the concept of romantic love is valued in western society. As well its religious connotations are more suppressed than Christmas. No one closes their doors in celebration. Perhaps that is to accommodate last minute shoppers?

Happy Valentine's Day to those in a position to celebrate. As a professional loser I intend to spend my day studying while hoping in vain to get over the flu.
