Otherwise the GPS. It's a question of range for me. If I'm shooting at people point blank I think it's easier to use the Evi. At a bit of range the GPS is the obvious choice.

Don't forget the Katana. I prefer it to the Eviscerator for every class out there, and I think it would suit a dedicated Assault Sentinel better than the GPS.
I can't really think of many situations where the Katana's balance would be a better choice than the GPS, Evi or Scimitar. If DPS or rate of fire/staggers were the preferred statistic, the Scimitar pulls way ahead. If single-shot power, the Evi pulls far ahead. If a balance between clip capcity/rate of fire and single shot power is needed, the GPS pulls way ahead, as it does everything the Katana does but has a better range to boot.

Assault Sentinel: GPS with Tungsten Ammo (on the Warp vs. Tungsten topic: the GPS already has pretty good barrier and shield penetration but lack Armor penetration. Same goes for the SMG. Also the yellow AP looks better on the Sentinel and his Tech Armor). I sometimes mix things up and use the Scimitar because the GPS doesn't feel like a shotgun. I tend to run out of Ammo quickly though, although it's not a problem with the Sentinel as a magazine of Tempest bullets in somebody's face gets the job done as well.
Adept: GPS - it's great to be able to 1-shot shields from a distance. It's such a beautiful weapon for the Adept and the only class where I don't mind that it doesn't have that shotgun-feeling. And the blue pellets fit the Adepts powers as well. Very stylish.
Vanguard: I use the Eviscerator... until I can pick the Claymore. If I don't pick the Claymore I stick to the Eviscerator.
Soldier: Like somebody already mentioned: it depends on the overall loadout. If you go Rev, then you might prefer the GPS due to it's usability at (medium) range as you don't need something besides the Rev for enemies that are right in front of you. If you go Widow/Mattock, a shotgun like the Eviscerator might be a better choice.

Adept with GPS is lethal, am playing one now on NG+ Hardcore and loving the loadout. It would also probably be a sweet gun on Engineers but they have good shield stripping already so my like Scimitar or Evi better.
Soldiers are also lethal with GPS, a ARush fully charged GPS blast will destroy most mini bosses and ANY regular mook. If you take the Widow, with Matlock and GPS you have insane damage at all levels and each do well off maxed ARush. Charged GPS is like a Claymore blast with follow up shots available.
