Merrill and Fenris look unbelievably depressed. Or bored. I guess Hawk just doesn't have the goods.
or Merril is simply sayingto herself "oh god where is it all going to fit???"
That poor little elf...
Also, has anyone noticed in the Merrill/Hawke picture how freaking creepy Hawke's stare is? It's like he contemplating on which side of her head to start eating.

It has been the subject of much deliberation, actually. It looks like she's done something, and Hawke is... displeased.

In this case, though, people are basing their judgements on a single captured screenshot... a single split second (or less) of footage. And then they're concluding that the person in the screenshot is "sad" or "depressed" or "angry" or "constipated" or whatever. It's nonsensical speculation. You cannot accurately determine a subjects mood on a split-second stillshot. What if she was giggling 2 seconds earlier? what if she's about to burst out in a smile a second from now?Sabariel wrote...

It was a bit of an overreaction, but did you miss the various posts about how ugly or child-like Merrill is?
The perfectionism people have with these characters is rampant again, like when it was with first screenshots. Some of it is humorous, some of it really is serious.
And? Merrill's feelings can't possibly be hurt as she isn't real and since this is a visual medium people will judge based on looks. Some will determine that they like said look and some will determine that they do not like said look. Just the way it is.
Does such a thing hurt anyone? No.

It gets redundant, if that is all people wish to discuss about.
If it even counts as proper discussion.

Could this be why Fenris has turned away from Hawke and is looking slightly broody? She does look like she's comforting him. I assumed it was because of his lyrium tattoos, but there could be certain... other reasons.

Makes me think of the conversation you have with Ohgren in Awakening; (Not entirely accurate quotes btw lol)
Ohgren: You remember that time Commander when you saved me from that thing, and it was all "Rrraaaaghh!" And then you came in and you were like "Grrrrrrraaaaah!!!" And then I got hit by and arrow, and was like "Meeep!!!" Hahaaaa!!! Spectaculous!!

Every topic about DA2 gets redundant as there is precious little to talk about at the moment. Once the game is released there will be other things to discuss... like the size of Isabela's arse

I agree, and I do look forward to seeing how they'll deliver on this. She's been set to become a Keeper after all, not "just" a proud dalish but a leader of their people and clan. A guardian of their culture, to then fall for a human... that's rather close to a complete 180.TheHawkeWhoFlies wrote...
Not unexpected, but it's cool to have confirmation. I just hope the writers haven't overlooked the cultural barriers between Hawke and Fenris/Merrill - that is, it shouldn't be too easy to bed them. Think about it; Fenris' been enslaved to a human for quite some time (one would assume), and Merrill's dalish. All in all, I just hope this is recognized, and that they end up being the hardest to romance.
Still, I have no doubt the writers won't disappoint in this regard, so I voiced doubts I don't really have :3
And then there's Fenris, I'd imagine he has little love for humans, not to mention mages, in general. Lot's of room for interesting conflicts.
No one ever said its a requirement for a Dalish Elf, even if their a Keeper to hate all humans. Not everyone is going to be a racist sack of crap like Zathrian. The same can be said of Fenris, unlike Zathrian who imposed his hate of a specific group on everyone who fit the description, Fenris may be able to keep his anger where its suppose to be, otherwise forget romance, I don't know how he could even exist in a human world.
Not to say that it wouldn't make for interesting stories, but I don't see it as a requirement for the character, that's just generalization. Look at Lanaya, of all people she would have reason to be like Zathrian, but she harbors no grudge for a human Warden. Then there is the super easy Gheyna and Cammen, so I don't see their background being a reason for why they would be hard or easy, just their own individual personality vs the actions of Hawke. Like someone who is a prude like Alistair would be difficult, regardless of where they come from.
I wasn't suggesting she'd have to hate Hawke, only that there'd be an element of hesitation. There's a difference between being a racist and hesitating to 'do the deed' with someone from another race because of tradition. And yes, I know about Lanaya, but just because she was polite and didn't hold a grudge, that doesn't mean she's willing to have sex with a human (remember, she's also the one telling you that getting Gheyna and Cammen together is technically wrong, because she (and the dalish on a whole) want to keep their young away from 'human impatience'). As I see it, Lanaya was just advocating a different approach for the dalish towards outsiders than Zathrian and Velanna's 'hate/vengeance' and the archetypal 'romance-equals-forgiving-the-humans-despite-what-they-did-and-the-consequences-of-such-relationships' (actually, come to think of it, I really dislike that archetype - why's it always the elf who has to forgive the humans and/or realize there are good ones too and not the human partner? I mean, it's the humans who did most of the bad stuff, and they have nothing to lose from being with an elf, while the elf has almost everything to lose).
Or try looking at it this way; you're Merrill (fix your nose and get tattoos as needed
Anyway, I'm sure the writers have already thought of this, so there's no need for concern
