And to be on topic, also putting in a hope that Merril is f/f. She's quite adorable and I'd like to romance a female elf that won't die immediately after the act.

Lanaya. it's lanaya

Lanaya's not even a true Dalish.![]()
being Dalish is a way of life, not something in the blood.
But she was raised by the Dalish from a young age, she lived amongst humans... if what you say is true, then even so, her lifespan would be much shorter than that of the other Dalish... unless somehow they magically get a longer lifespan by deciding to join the Dalish in their nomadic lifestyle.

Bopping in to say that I just played through the BF yesterday and, yeah, both Lanaya and Gheyna say that Dalish elves live longer than their city counterparts, if in slightly more flowery language. I think Lanaya says that the Dalish are all gaining back that ability, and they do live longer, but that only Zathrian has regained the immortality.

All LIs are bi.

Thank you for that. I had never said that the Dalish were again immortal, just living longer lives that makes their new immortal-ish look more appropriate, but people seemed to see that as what they wanted to see. Thank you Phoenix. Your post makes me

Speaking of companion pairings, I think Fenris/Varric would be very interesting, and also sort of makes-sensy.

if that's true, its a bit tragic to be with a dalish elf like Merril. you're pretty much killing her. at least, cutting down her total expected lifespan by a decent bit.

also: could someone please point out where the "all companions are bi" was confirmed? I haven't seen anything official about it.

it has to do with the limited contact with humans. By being near humans, they lost their immortality, so their legends and lore say, so it makes sense by being reclusive from the humans they'll live longer lives
Yeah but that doesn't mean they've regained immortality just that they've been away from humans.
*digs in toolset*
PC: But you could get your lifespan back, no?
Lanaya: In time, and with seclusion. We Dalish have lengthy life spans, and they will get longer. Zathrian himself has lived many centuries, though that is unusual even for us.
So by this I take it that they're becoming far longer lived but not immortal by any means.
PC: Just how old is Zathrian, exactly?
Ghenya: I don't know. Very old. It is said that Zathrian may be one of the first to become as our ancestors were long ago: immortal. [polite, a bit hesitant to talk about this]
PC: But how could that be? Why him and not others?
Ghenya: All of us live longer than flat-ears; you know that. Is your keeper not also very old? (If PC is Dalish)
We... we all live longer than the flat-ears, the elves who live with humans. The keepers even more so because of their knowledge of the old ways. [polite, a bit hesitant to talk about this]
Why Zathrian differs from others, I do not know. Perhaps he has been blessed by the Creators. [polite, a bit hesitant to talk about this to a stranger]

That's what I originally said though. but you took it to mean that I said they were immortal. i said their new immortal-ish appearance was fitting.
EDIT: I'm not mad at you or anyone here, but I get what I say misconstrued and twisted around so much I just have no patience for it. It just gets old.

Immortalish? Having an inreased lifespan is hardly immortal.
Edit: Though you should chillout. I'm not attacking you personally.

They're regaining a longer lifespan, either because they don't live in their own filth or because they are reclusive from the humans. All I said was their new appearance fits in with not only the elven lore of immortality, but that they have longer lifespans. I'm not calling them actually immortal, but their appearance does seem immortalish given, again, the lore we learned about so far.

If everyone is bi then why put labels on at all?
I wonder how they are shown in the game. For example if you play male will you ever see that Merrill and Isabella are bi. That is are they bi only if you play female, and in that case, would they be gay or would you see they are bi.
Very simple questions but I am sure some does not understand those.
