Oh. :( So it's pure speculation then. Darn.

Absolutely.

The facts are that these four companions have been confirmed as straight LIs.

Bioware have not mentioned which, if any, are same-gendered.  Why they have not done this is anyone's guess.

Many forum posters have decided this means they are all available for any gender.

The above are facts.  The following is merely supposition.

I think one of wtwo things will happen:

1) they are indeed all bisexual - that would be awesome but I think I'll wait until it's confirmed.

2) the gay romances will be a Kelly Chambers character as with ME2. Or more specifically, a longer version of the 'Sweet Iona'/'Sweet Dairren' situation from the Human Noble origin.

However, you will get dogpiled if you dare suggest this to the regulars.

Somehow I doubt that your "number 2" is very accurate.  I mean look at DA:O.  They had not one, but two bi characters... I seriously doubt that they'll cut out things like that for their bi/gay fans... that wouldn't be good for buisness. Posted Image

I will say this. I hope to sweet Bleeding ancestors and Maker on High that they don't do another Fade trip like in Broken Circle. The first time it was fun, but after that it just got old and old and old. and I have the PS3 version of DA:O so no mod for me to skip it

That's why I always do Broken Circle first. Just to get it over with.

In Mass Effect 2 they not only cut the gay options, but they tried to retcon it to say we never had one in the original game either.

That's a fact, so please don't slate me for stating an unpalatable truth.

Is DA different? Maybe. We will see when the full game is launched.

But removing gay options in ME wasn't bad for business, was it?

Yes because the fact that the ME2 devs never confirmed same sex romance options while the DA team *did* means they're exactly the same.

/shakes head.

And you come across as a bully.

If you just said 'this is how I see it, I choose to be an optimist' then I'd have no problems with it.

Stating your opinion as fact is just misleading people, like the above posters. [/quote]

I'm just saying that I can make baseless statements out my ass as well as Maelora can. Of course, I have actual reasoning besides my own soul-crushing refusal to allow for my own or anyone else's happiness.

They didn't remove gay options, they just tried to cover it up.  They didn't want people to think that they were forcing a change... they didn't wish to be like Andraste.Posted Image  However, they can not cover up the fact that there are gay romances in DA:O.  Zevran is flat out flirting with my Male Warden as I'm typing this... Lelianna has bedded my female Warden.... and they're obviously male and female (respectively) and they aren't alien races... besides Mass Effect is largely irrelevant to the fact that this isn't the ME world... it's the DA world... two different sets of teams designing two very different games.

And that "their are no s/s options" you're doing isn't misleading?

They may not have said which (though with Isabela they didn't deny it nor make any effort to hide it) but they confirmed the fact that there was f/f and m/m romance options.

I liked your reasoning. Strong argument. But I wouldn't want them to do that. If they do, as I've said pages back, I wouldn't really care too much. Honestly, it's Bioware. they make sure everything is amazing story wise, romance wise. At least that's what I think

It's not an opinion, and I'm not stating it as fact. It's a conclusion at which I've arrived based on documented evidence that I find convincing enough to speak with certainty, and that's exactly how I've always presented it.

True I have little doubt that it'll be believeable though.

There's nothing in any of those charactrsbackstories that we know about that precludes them from being bisexual.

Only if while you're gone, you learn Blood Magic and then summon a demon and accidently become an abomination....

Well, the DA 2 romances sure look like they can make people passionate around here... -_-

I'm not sure the writers are glad their stories lead to such behaviours amongst their fans.

I've never said there aren't s/s options.

They have said there are s/s options, but haven't confirmed that these are playable companions. That leaves it open for DAOIsabela/Kelly Chambers/Iona/Dairren situations, I think.

It's certainly interesting they have refused to confirm the sexuality of the four romanceable characters, and I wonder why.

Okay, let's change tack a bit as you and I are simply not going to agree over this, and we should repsect that.

How would the s/s fans feel if the following hypothetical situation was real:

None of the companions were bi LIs, but you had a Dairren/Iona character, romanceable by anyone regardless of gender.  No kissing, no achievement, but you could flirt with them after every mission, a la Kelly Chambers.

Would that be disappointing? Cool? Better? I'm genuinely interested.

It would have been easy to confirm it, one way or the other.  But they chose not to. One wonders why.

Hypothetically I think it's a stupid question.

Because inserting the word hypothetically makes all sorts of crazy reasoning ok! Let's say you can't call me out on it, hypothetically.
