Am I the only thinking that the lyrium shifting ability Fenris has might be a little.....awkward... if he and Hawke are getting intimate.

Epic fail. WORST Valentines day ever. Whose bright idea was it to make Merril a romance over Aveline? Seriously? Here's an idea, why not just allow players to romance ANYONE in the party. That'd be much more realistic. Personally, I liked Mass Effects approach. The "If she is a woman, you can tap that!" approach is always much better.

I found the ME2 (didn't play ME1) romances lacking.  To me at least, they lacked depth.

If that's what happens when you have so many LI's in the party, I'd rather the DA2 team just go with four well developed romances, plus being able to flirt with others.

I had a feeling that these 4 were it. Was hoping against hope for Aveline till the Darrah interview but oh well.

I love how people already know exactly how the romances are going to play out or who are the S/S romances without having the game...

Mass Effect 1? Tali wasn't an LI. Mass Effect 2? Samara.

I'd assume Aveline is in the same ballpark as Samara. You can persue her, but she has her reasons for not being interested. How is that not reasonable?

I'd imagine he's got a handle on how to control it. It's not like it's new to him or anything.

Huh. So still the most appealing human males are our brother and dlc character. We've got an Abomination!Anders, who managed to corrupt poor Justice by his mere presence. And Fenris, too cool for school, long-lost brother of Sephiroth and Dante. Groovy!

Heh, you made me laugh.

Thank you! Image IPB

Bioware, I am disapoint. The only F/F is Isabella, really?

And who would make a better choice? Merrill? I mean in DA:O both male and female Wardens could sleep with Isabella. If that didn't tip you off then I really don't know what to say.

*sigh* I know I was just hoping for another choice, don't really like her that much. On that note, how the hell does she now look completely different then she did in Origins?

How? Maybe Isabella got a new copy of DA2 before the release date, and used the Mirror of transformation to change her appearance. And through some crazy cosmic, magical paradox your the only one who happens to remember what she looked like.

Either that or the designers decided to change her look. Go figure.

I think DA:O's precedent has set a pretty good chance.  Besides, devs HAVE confirmed there will be s/s among party.  And Isabella's character lends herself far too well to F/F option, she is bi in Origins.  I think(can't wuite remember) devs might have even confirmed Isabella as s/s.

I think there was a video of Isabela suggesting Marian to come to her bed or something. For us gay men, looks like we'll have to wait longer :crying:

...Is there any chance Sebastian could be romanceable? ...plleeeeeeeeeeease?

In my opinion, this is how I perceive the list of LIs:

Anders-witty mage (a.k.a Alistar), been done

Fenris-Thane/Zevran, been done.

Isebella-A dark haired Liliana who knows how to sail.

Merrill-New, can't really compare her.

Absolutely no insult implied to you writers and programmers. This is simply how I am seeing the options.
You've put an amazing game together so far. I was just hoping we could have pushed the envelope a little bit: you did this with the Samara romance (a romance that goes nowhere), but you could have done this with adding Varric in the mix (although you would have faced equal criticism).

That being said, keep going y'all. Can't wait to see the game in March :)

It's in the game.  We know it.  We''l find out soon enough or maybe in the game itself.

True, I guess I am just having fun picturing him losing his grip on those powers, so to speak.

Did you read the story that accompanied this reveal? Pretty much the only thing he has in common with Alistair now is the taint and the potential to reduce his fangirls to tears of heartbroken woe by the end of the game.

I have been a little annoyed at a few responses to Merrill being a romance option. To quote:

"Bioware now finally went the loli route with Merill, no?

Jokes aside, this IS now (I didn't know that Merill was romancable) a dealbreaker for me. And pretty sad actually.

I just hope they don't do the same thing in ME3."

Taken from the Penny Arcade forums.

I think I can understand the thought process behind this: a misunderstanding about small elven physiques, a strong projection of ideals about a given subject. But to not buy the game because of an optional romance? An optional romance between consenting adults? What utter nonsense.

I wonder how this person reconciles his overreaction with reality. I have a Filipino friend who is a year older than me (mid twenties), but looks very much like a teenager. Would the sight of her with a mid sized man be immediately pegged as pedophilia?

God I hate overblown reactions...

If by awkward, we mean likely to be exploited by kink fanfic writers for a variety of ridiculously hot sexual purposes before the game has even been released, then yes. But, I digress.

they didnt want the game in the first place to ignore the whole game for an optional small thing is a stupid excuse so ignore them

I don't understand the secrecy behind the s/s options. Especially not with the blantant way the m/f options have been given.

Verric -- besides being a disgusting dwarf -- is the narrator. Now, I know that most people that complain about romance options don't care about what works and what doesn't work from a character/story point of view, but come on. You can't have the narrator in love with you. That's just basic 101.

Indeed. I don't expect them to make a spectacle of it but would mentioning whose bi or not in that list been so difficult? :(

Man, I am so tired of seeing Fenris/Zevran comparisons. Is it because he's an elf? Everything we've heard about Fenris makes him out to be completely different from Zevran in every way.

I like all of the confirmed romances, and just because you can't be romantically involved with a character doesn't make them any less awesome. Aveline has the potential to be one of my favourite video game characters, and I'm not up in arms because she's not an LI. It would have been nice to romance her, I guess, but that's not why I would like her character.

Romances are an optional part of the game, and BioWare doesn't have to include multiple romances for characters or even romances at all.
