Though I also wouldn't put it past BW to make Isabela 'straight' for DA2.

I have no idea why you think this would happen. It makes less sense than the 'they're all bi' crowd*.

Best part of the whole demo:

Isabela: Sooooo... I've known you for about an hour. Want some company later? :3

Yup, definitely not straight. I'd do Cassandra before I'd do Isabela, lol. I'm straight but I can't see how anyone can find Isabela attractive.

I hope you can do more than flirt with good ol sebastian.. :P

That would give the game a lot of replayability, especially if they made Cassandra a LI too.  They can do that, just do a patch or DLC, lol.  Lots of girls and guys would be so happy.

Maria, do you really fail to understand why s/s fans feel cautious after the abomination that was ME2?

Having played the demo, it feels like DA2 is taking its cues from that game, not Origins.

Sure, we flirted with Isabela but is it a full romance? Will FemShep get kissing scenes like ManShep gets?
WHY didn't the devs just tell us which were s/s options?

I'm not saying 'the sky is falling'.  But I think I have reasons to feel cautious until everything is confirmed, one way or another.

Also Maria - assuming you think there will be bi options, who do you think they are? Everyone pretty much thinks Isabela/Fenris, but I can't see them repeating the 'gay elf' thing again.

If there aren't fully fleshed out same sex romances in DA2, I will eat my hat. There is no reason to think they'll go all Mass Effect homophobic on us. They're not the same team. Plus Gaider has said there is someone for everyone a couple of times now. I just ... I get being angry at Mass Effect. I do! I just don't get transfering that anger to a team that had nothing to do with that mess.

Why didn't they tell us who the s/s romances are? Probably because their marketing department wears pants on their head.

Obviously the whole ME2 thing was pretty shocking, and its understandable that one would feel apprehensive going forward, but all the information we have, fairly limited though it may be, says that that the LIs are 'unrestricted' in DA2. So while obviously the folks we're getting the information from could be wrong, it's much better than it was around this time right before ME2, when the reports started coming out that FemShep was getting nobody (other than dudes of course), not even Jack. Reports that sadly turned out to be true, just like hopefully these, much more positive ones, will also turn out to be true :) . Besides, look at even ME2 itself now, you've got the LotSB DLC which is awesome, where not only can you continue your romance with Liara in SUPER awesome fashion, but its also revealed that the reporter woman you get interviewed by in both games, loves the ladies also (and thats revealed in quite hilarious and awesome fashion indeed), and dont forget the Kasumi DLC in which Kasumi talks about your 'date with Kelly', which is nice how she acknowledge your relationship with her. So it seems there's been some real improvement since that horrible turn of events last year, I'm pretty optimistic.

I assume you mean FemHawke, and yes she will. The ESRB states in their review that " Players can also initiate brief cutscene sequences in which couples
(male-female or same-sex) are shown kissing and embracing one another in
a bedroom
". www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp

@Maelora.

Don't worry, there will be romances for everyone. :)
Just out of curiosity, who would you want romance in Mass Effect ? Apart Liara.

True.  Liara's the best written female BW character since Grace or Annah in Planescape Torment.  The pre-LotSB Liara stuff left me literally shaking with rage that there was no mention of our relationship... but yeah, LotSB was beyond awesome.  I hated the clumsy attempt to retcon though,  trying to convince us Liara wasn't female. The entire 'Azure' sequence, and they try to tell us she's not female?

Anyway, sorry if 've been ranty.

I will try to have faith, and hope everyone gets the LI they want.

Okay, I'm feeling better about it now.  Thanks.

And I've had 30 playthroughs across ME and ME2, and I've been faithful to Liara in all of them!  So its not like I actually wanted to romance anyone else. I'd have just liked the option.

I can see how Miranda is straight, but Tali and Jack were crying out to be options.  Tali comes right out and tells you she wants to 'share suit environments'.  And I want to get to know Jack, as a friend or lover, but I can't be eiher unless I'm ManShep. And while Samara feels completely in character, the rejection - in the context of no other options - really hurts.

Anyway, yeah, maybe DA2 will be different. Here's hoping.

Agreed.  Kasumi also comments on your Epic Fail with Samara too.  It was nice to be acknowledged.

I agree there should be an option to Tali and Jack, especially compared to what they say. In addition, Jack has had an experience with a girl and a boy.

I don' t like the concept of everyone is bi ( anti- rp for me ), for cons, I didn't like that M2 doesn't made bi or gay characters.

Garrus and Thane, compared to their behavior, Tali and Jack, from what they say, experimented.

I hope the team from Mass Effect, take into account the remarks on M2. x)

In short, Da2 will not like that at all, and so much better. ^ ^

There will even be bi NPC romances.

Similarly, I always thought it was ridiculous that they made Thane straight. He was a completely new character of a completely new species. Maybe one (other than the asari) that doesn't appear to be full of heterosexuals. But no, instead he's a straight guy with a deceased wife. And his personality always suggested that sex/relationships to him was more about the charisma/pull of the person he was with, not just their physical appeal. I always felt they missed an opportunity with him.

I don't think the DA team will do the same as the ME team. I didn't romance anyone in ME2 because Kaidan wasn't in it, and Kaidan was epic to me. I love Sbarge's voice acting. I am also not even buying ME3 if Kaidan/Ash don't make a return but I have this feeling that the ME team will disappoint me again and their little stay faithful ploy will be a big let down. I'm buying it for my son, he's a huge ME fan, and letting him play through it first. I'm not even buying it for myself without Kaidan. Enough of ME, DA has done us proud with DAO romances. I hope they don't sell us short in the DA2 romance dept for both SS and hetero options.

I agree, and personally I felt the same for Garrus.

I mean, the species barrier is so huge, the gender barrier feels unimportant.

I'm hoping there is Kaidan/Ashley DLC coming, in the same vein as LotSB.

While I've never romanced them personally, I think the Kaiden/Ash fans deserve closure.  We Liara fans got it with LotSB, and you deserve it too.

And it would be nice just to reaffirm our friendship, for those who didn't romance the Virmire Survivor.

It would restore my faith in the ME team but I'm not hoping for anything from them anymore.
