I knew it was wishful thinking, hoping to be able to romance Nathaniel :(

I am with ya on this one. He would be my first choice even though he is a Howe.

I was excited about Anders until I read his story, I'm not sure I want him, that thing, in my party much less as a LI.

Also Anders was a gay warden which would make him extremely useful for when you venture in the deep roads.

Fixed.

I'm pretty sure that female elf in Awakening that you met while doing Ander's personal quest can verify that the above is very much lie. :innocent:

Well, I mean yes, of course, he is technically bisexual. But so am I, and I refer to myself as gay. I was more going for the immature "deep roads" innuendo, but that's really neither here nor there haha.

Ah I see. That went right over my head. XD

Nah I don't think Anders is bi. Nor Fenris.

It'l be some random NPC who we can easily miss and we have to pick certain dialogue options and their killable.

And he'll look like Cammen.

I'm just wondering why their so quiet. It's perfectly okay for us to know the straight options but the bi one is a secret?
I'm starting to think Melonora (spelling is wrong) is right and the bi LI isn't a companion at all.
As for Isabela...I'm starting to doubt her bi LI status too.
I'm infected. Run while you still can. :(

I hope - I really really hope - the optimists are right.  I really do, and I applaud your optimism.

I'm just taking nothing for granted, that's all.

Sorry if that means you see me as a naysayer.

I'm just sad the devs could put us out of our misery... but they chose not to.

Hawke (supposedly this all is) need Merrill for Flemeth's ritual. So yes she would need to be in the party when Hawke goes to preform it. Maybe it unlocks something important (supposedly it has a significant impact), Anders wouldn't be easily killed and attacking him would probably do more harm than good. [Wynne didn't do anything for you other than be a party member everything she had on her/told you were things you could've learne from someone else, Zevran had no significance at all in the plot other than letting you know Loghain was after you *which you would've figured out in Lothering or Orzammar or even Denerim]. Also Anders was a grey warden which would make him extremely useful for when you venture in the deep roads.

Killing Wynne, Zevran or Leliana made practically no difference on the main plot. Meanwhile how you treated Alistair/Morrigan had a much larger difference.

Judging by previews Merrill´s recruitment will be similar to Isabella´s recruitment in the demo. That is to say she will be a not controllable NPC that accompanies the group until the ritual is done and only then will be available as full team member. Whether you can refuse that or not is not confirmed yet. And Anders being a grey Warden does have little significance since you will be accompanied by dwarves when you venture into the deep roads. And you can even send Morrigan back to her mother once you arrive at camp in DA:O so unless Anders has a way bigger impact on the plot than owning a map I do not believe his recruitment will be  mandatory.

You saw the preview of Merrill's reruitment? Where?

You can choose not to help Isabela. You don't even have to ever see Isabela. That's not the case with Merrill. Flemeth's request is to give the thing she gives you to Merrill. How does being a grey Warden (who are respected by the dwarves) have no significance? How is being able to sense darkspawn and the taint insignificant? How is being immune to darkspawn taint in the deeproads insignficant?

Sure you could send Morrigan back but she still offered you the DR. You could leave Ali at camp but he still shows up at the landsmeet. The two of them still moved the plot along even if you ignored them.

I'm pretty sure he is mandatory. None of the previews with him have said anything about him being skippable. Where's Isabela and Fenris were told that they were optional from the jump.

Nah  I was being a bit harsh and I see hwere you're coming from. The s/s options could easily be a Kelly Chambers like character.

I disagree simply because this seems like a HUGE leap back, and Mike has already reassured us that they haven't taken any steps back with DA2, insofar as the romances go.  So at the very least, I think we can expect what we got in Origins, 2 straight LI's and 2 bi LI's, all recruitable party members.

Regardless, I still think they're all going to be bi.  My only lingering questions concern Sebastian.  Would really love it if he was a LI.

That accent.

I hope, that if their all not bi, and I can't romance Merrill, then Isabella, better have one hell of a surprisingly deep personality that you uncover, and is more then just a ****ty pirate wench.

I hate it, when the bisexual characters are always less important than the straight ones. I always felt bad when dating Leliana or Zevran just because Morrigan seemed so much more important than them. Not only because of her ritual, but also because she knew everything, has the highest will power and every time she talked to another character she was sovereign, especially in conversations with Alistar which made him less attractive to me. I want balanced characters whe no one is so important that you get the feeling of "He's the best. Dating anyone else seems like a temporary solution" and that's although I didn't like Morrigan that much.

I think that will happen regardless. There probably is more behind that rough appearance.

My thoughts exactly, also the main reason I created a lot of male characters just so I could have that kind of relationship with her, because if I didn't I felt somehow like I was lacking something in the game. For me, Morrigan was a character I just couldn't ignore. She was too interesting.

Eh. I see no reason for them to keep it a secret if that was the case. I'm just not seeing it. I think the bi LIs are probably going to be outside the party.

I would like if Seb was a LI too. Very sexy accent.

Morrigan could be a horrible Mary Sue... but the other characters do get their licks in. She doesn't come out of every banter on top. Zevran for one is much too witty for her. And of course, you can tell her to sod off as soon as you hit Lothering.

And Ryzaki - thanks. I appreciate we're probably on the same side.

I read descriptions about it in PC Games 1/11 and I think that I saw screenshots of a complete party and Merrill fighting together similar to what we had in the demo with Isabela. Though I am not sure on the screenshot.

Neither Zevran or Wynne are skip-able in DA:O but both are not mandatory to join the party. I never saw a preview that featured Anders but I doubt that we would be forced to accept an abomination in the team, actually I would be surprised if we are forced to let a dangerous abomination live and do not have the option to kill him once we learn his secret.

Morri was too irritating for my male PCs. They just decided to go through orgins single (I couldn't deal with paying lip service to Zev after 3 playthrougs so I just started killing him from the jump). Gah if only Alistair had been bi. :(

And yeah I love telling her to sod off. Though her breaking in your room at Redcliff later is irritating. <_<

Oh come on know. You know you want him! ;)

I don't know if anyone else felt that acquiring love interest in ME2 was rushed and 'effortless.' In all the RPGs BioWare has ever released, the player had to work towards the romance with the NPCs, but in ME2 it was like "I want you" and done, those charismatic words got you free access to nearly anyone.

Anyways, I really, REALLY didn't like how little effort was required for the LIs in ME2, so I'm kind of concerned with DA-2. Will it be similarily as easy, or will it more resemble Origins and ME1?

Ah I see.

That's what I mean by skippable. You don't have to have them in your party. Sure you'll meet them but they don't go anywhere with you. You didn't go to meet them intentionally.

Who said we'd know his secret from the jump? I have a feeling the reveal of Vegence will be similar to Wynne's revelation. You'll only learn it after you've done his companion quest.

Though we maybe able to kill him. Something tells me he has a good chance of being like Morrigan with his plot shield due to his anti-chantry roots. Though I really don't know one way or another. Oh I wish March 8th would hurry.

Yes, but if you tell her to leave the group a grey warden has to die. In this way it changes the story line or in other words; it gives us the chance to make sure everyone survives in the end. But it's not only the ritual. She's also the "daughter" of Flemeth who is a very important character in Dragon Age 2. So maybe we'll see Morrigan again too. Maybe other characters as well, but except Alistar and her everyone else won't be necessary for the main plot I think.

For Origins you could kind of Ninja-in a romance before you'd even completed a single quest... for many, many characters. In fact, in this regard, Zevran was one of the hardest to romance (you need to complete all main quests and get to the Landsmeet and confront Taleisen before he will become "love"). I think the original ME was the most fun/realistic though -- I'm thinking it'll be like that since you can't prompt conversation anytime/anyplace just by talking to them. Or, at least I hope it'll be like that!
