Relax, some people like those creepy dwarf romances. I'm not one of 'em, heh.Eclipse_9990 wrote...

I've gotten death threats for saying I didn't like Tali on the ME forums.

I am afraid it would unbalance it. It would leave hetero men lacking.
Not if they don't buy the DLC
I would imagine that if Bioware released a female romance option DLC that was only for men or gay/bi females, the straight women on this forum would feel quite left out. It doesn't matter if the DLC is bought or not. It's still there.

Careful. I think he said that no particular characters were confirmed as LIs. WHich is not entirelky correct, but close enough to not warratn such a harsh response.
It's still wrong. Isabela was confirmed from nearly her first trailer.
And yes Gaider let the cat out of the bag early.
That was just one. Besides, I think the rest of the guy's point is still valid even though there was a mislaid fact.
Eh I'm in a ****y mood. /shrugs
And true it was just one. But then they turned around and shut down Aveline early. And I believe they suggested (or outright said) there would be the same amount as LIs in DA2 as there were in DAO. So that left Merill unless some mystery woman came out of nowhere.
Isabela was pretty heavily suggested as well *for FemHawe. They weren't outright stated no but at this point they have been so there really is no reason for any secrecy.

I think it's about as much of a spoiler as who the companions are at all *shrug* Here they are! Here's the two-thirds of them whom you can bed.
So, Varric and Aveline don't get to try the Hawke on for size, hmm? People are throwing around a lot of "eww, he's a dwarf" comments... has anyone thought that maybe Varric is thinking, "Ew, she's a human"? He's just as likely to be into his own species as we are. And I've already talked about why Aveline's out.

Fine, I've been suitably baited. I like Tali fine, as a subordinate crewman, even a little sister. But I find the romance itself exploitative, like a professor taking advantage of a student who has a crush on him.

I find it odd Bioware is releasing this info rather than allowing players to discover the romance options for themselves.
BioWare is allowing players to discover this for themselves. All they have to do is not log onto the forums a few weeks before launch and read the thread called 'Dragon Age 2 Romances Confirmed.'

Well, they're leaving themselves out for refusing to romance the character. I figure every potential DLC romance should be for either gender, but the sex of the DLC character doesn't matter. So, what if there are three men and two women? You still get four or five potential lovers.
The character isn't her player. When I play male Hawke, I'll probably play a straight romance with Merrill. That's not because I like women, it's because my character likes Merrill. *shrug*

Jiray, please do not start flaming....it is not allowed.
True, as you have said Ryzaki, Isabella was confirmed very early. Yet none of the other characters were ever confirmed nor denied as potential LIs for Dragon Age 2. The outrage some forumites (read: Not all) are feeling because their personal favorite character cannot make the beast with two backs with either Hawke is misguided.

Alistair - a sniveling blondie;
Zevran - a ****ty blondie;
Anders - a sanity-challenged abomination/blondie;
Fenris - hmm, don't know yet, but surely lookslikeagirlshorterthanmyself...blondie
Seriously, what's with the blond fethish? And what about us, a handful of girls who like their men tall, darkhaired
and broody. And to think that they made one: intensive, passionate but stoic and honourable - in a word: a man, but disregarded him in favor of what? Another blondie. I really don't hate blonds, but I was hoping so hard for Nathaniel...to tell him what pleases me. Repeatedly.
To all here who's feeling offended: that was not my intention. And the good news? I'm far from regular here *goes back to hybernation mode*

Aveline was denied. In an interview no less.
And frankly I'm happy with Isabela as my f/f choice and wouldn't mind either Anders or Fenris.
What outrage? I just want to know who it is.

Thank you. ME2 left its scars.
I was hoping DA2 might heal some of those. But the wait goes on.
I just wish they'd tell us. The straights learned today who they could romance. We wait on, resigning ourselves to anoher Tali/Samara siuation, wandering up blind and fruitless alleys.
But thank you.
Isabela was the first announced love interest. I'm starting to think you're trolling.

1. All the people saying "I like ___!" or "I can't stand ___!" or "I think ___ is boring!" Jumping to conclusions, much? How the hell can you possibly know whether you like or don't like any of these characters yet? Not only has the game not been released yet, but we haven't even gotten character-centric trailers like we did for Origins. Virtually all we know about each of these characters, LI's and non-LI's alike, can be summed up in a paragraph or two. Anyone ever heard the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"?
2. The following is clearly both an unpopular and a non-politically-correct opinion, but I don't care. Making all the love interests available to both male and female Hawke would be idiotic. This might be news to some of you, but believe it or not, not everyone in the world is bisexual. For all the romanceable characters in the entire game to just magically happen to swing both ways would strain immersion to the breaking point.
3. That Anders story is hilariously urple. And the Isabela one reads like a horrible Mary Sue fanfic. Just saying.

I disagree.
Knowing who the male s/s option is will kill the character for many before they know anything about him. People will brush him aside/kill him on sight due the fact that he can be romanced by guys and that's just gay.
In a way Bioware is protecting the poor guy.
