I don't understand the fascination that many forumites have with m/m and f/f romances... Are there that many homosexual gamers out there? If not, isn't it kind of creepy to romance another person of the same sex?

I'm NOT flaming... I'm honestly curious.

Straight here, but I find a relationship between two handsome male characters... stimulating? :innocent:

Sometimes I feel like roleplaying as a character that may not have the same interests and views as myself.

I hope we can all recognize Lizard is a troll. But I've seen him troll a lot of threads, and he's a really funny troll, so I kind of want him to keep doing it. I have a troll-crush on him/her/it. Please, by all means, continue.

I want a creepy LI and a creepy romance. I'm creepy, too. We'll do creepy things together, and have amazingly kinky sex.

Well he lost alot of credit to me when he changed his avatar. That's no lizard.

A creepy lizard perhaps?

Well I didn't ask every elf I met for their sexual orientation. But if out of 2 male elf companions in 2 Bioware games are bi then I am starting to see a connection. 2 may still be a coincidence, but I can see myself posting this very same concern in Dragon Age 3 again. 'Please Bioware not again!'

I wouldn't even know why for example homosexual men should be into elves more than into humans.

I hope you're complaining about lesbian female humans then. After all both Isabela and Leliana are female.

Maybe because the human male companions aren't bisexual? That's just a thought though.

And of course I suppose Dairren doesn't count as human anymore. Poor Dairren.

Sorry, I couldn't resist the Genshiken reference.

I'd actually like a stalker romance, where the LI is a bit creeped out by Marian's constant unhealthy interest in her.

Yay! You look like your avatar, right? Hotness.

'Cause I'm warning you, I look exactly like mine.  Hope you like running your hands through my hair - uh, tentacle thingies...

(and with that, this Brit is off to her bed as its midnight in Wales...)

As for why I care: I like men and I like playing male characters. It's that simple. I always feel a bit odd romancing females so I rather romane a male character. /shrugs

I agree with this statement but vice versa for the males like me lol.

I'm gay. Most of the female gamers I know in RL are either bisexual, or into other nerdy pursuits... which tend to include anime... which tends to lead to yaoi, m/m porn for nerdy girls. Women also tend to be a large percentage of the forumites, and I'm betting the majority who are posting in the romance threads. So yeah, women who aren't open to the m/m f/f options tend to be, in my opinion, the minority of female gamers, while it's a smaller percentage of male gamers who are secure enough in their masculinity to go m/m, or identify as LGBT in real life. I think a not insignificant portion of male gamers are all about the f/f thing though and play a girl character. Because, you know, lesbians.

I am a gamer, 45, heterosexual and female - Hi :D I don't fit your stereotype ^ there at all ;)

I do think however that, you know, we are all the same here - straight/gay/bi, we all have our own preferences and if there are heterosexual romance options then there should the same option for homosexual men, lesbians and bisexual men/women, it is only fair. To say otherwise is to discriminate :( I feel strongly that the experience should be as full for everyone as it is for heterosexual men..... <_<

Haha, no you most certainly don't, but I did say "most" and not "all"! Actually, since I'm 24, I don't even know any 30+ year old gamers ._. I'm not trying to stereotype all the female gamers who are really into m/m or f/f romance or anything, though. Just trying to give an honest insight into the ones I do know about :D Actually, I'm really curious -- why are you really into the m/m and f/f ones?

This is thread is full of either trolls or people talking about s/s romance. There's literally nothing else (although I really want to talk about the friendship/rivalry path with Isabela for example I know no one here will care).

Everything. You, me, the love interests, the chantry, and even the Qun.

Re: HolyAvenger -- Isabela is winning the poll for most popular s/s love interest, so I'm sure plenty of the people hanging in this thread would love to discuss that with you even if they do support s/s.

I CARE.  I've also been pondering it since the demo came out.

In terms of her personal quest, it seems like you can either push her towards finding and returning the lost relic to Castillon, or urging her to stand up for herself and fight back.

If you urge her to fight back, she pretty much says, "Tried that once, look where it got me."

I'm currently trying to figure out which path would benefit her more.  Reclaiming the relic, or trying to convince her to put down Castillon, because I really doubt that guy is going to back off even if she returns whatever it is she lost.

Ok then, lets see if anyone actually cares to discuss this...I notice in the demo playthrough at the end you have the option to either jump straight in and help Isabela with the relic and continue her work for Castillon or try and convince her to stop working from him and that she doesn't need him.

I presume these are the two friendship (help her) and rivalry (convince her not to) dynamics. For my nice guy (or girl) characters the rivalry option is the one they would be likely to take. So I wonder how the romance plays out there? Can you convince her to go on the straight and narrow? Would you want to?

That's the impression I got, too.  It feels weird that encouraging her to stand up to him might be the rivalry path.

Lol, I know you weren't making a sweeping statement, just thought I might broaden your experience ;)
As I said, I just feel strongly that the playing field should be even, just because I don't experience the ss romance in game doesn't mean that I don't think it should be available for everyone. There is a shocking ''I'm alright, Jack'', attitude sometimes and it bugs me. It happens all the time in every area but if people who it doesn't directly affect don't stand up to counted nothing changes :)

I remember going out with two friends a few years ago - a straight friend and a gay friend and we went round a few pubs/bars and towards the end of the night he suggested we got to a well known gay bar and my female friend said (no word a lie) ''I don't want to go to a gay bar, why would I want to do that?'', Her complete lack of self awareness left me dumbfounded, he had been all round town with us in 'straight', pubs, never moaned once and asked if we could finish the night in one gay bar and she objected? < It's that kind of attitude really on here with the ss options that I find really thoughtless......... We are all paying for the game so we all should get the full experience.

Becauseyou're being a hypocrite. It's okay for humans to be bi two games in a row but not elves?
