How is it creepy? Even if you're not gay/bi yourself, why should that stop your character from being gay/bi? It's a role playing game, not everyone chooses to play themselves/their preferences.
Well, to be fair, I get squicked out by f/m and m/f romances. I wouldn't use the word 'creepy' to describe them, but they're definitely not for me, which is why I prefer m/m and f/f. xD
Even when role-playing certain people have preferences, at least, that's what I gather from the forum-based rpg's I've been apart of over the years. Some people are okay playing as the opposite gender, others aren't. Some people like to play gay/bi/lesbian/straight characters, other's can't.
Sometimes comfort zones determine what kind of characters people like to play. Some role-players can put their personal preferences aside in lew of the character, other's can't.
Once again, creepy is definitely not the word I would use to describe it, I always go with different strokes. {smilie}
Sums up how I feel about it, but in reverse. I can role play a lot of things, but there are some things I just can't do. Going into the SS romance territory is one of them. I have no taste for it, whether in games, fanfiction, fanart, etc. Ended up having to abandon a lot of fandoms I used to really follow because it started getting a little too heavily weighted on the SS end, for that matter. Especially when people are grasping at straws. Eh.
I have no problem playing as a male PC, I just seldom do it. I usually play females because I am female, but I can play males. I've intended to do a male PC playthrough of both ME and DA for some time, just haven't quite gotten around to it and decided who I'd like to romance, etc. Probably Jack and Morrigan, respectively.
Playing a truly
evil -not just pragmatic- character is also something I've had issues with. I've tried it once or twice, but I can never see it through. Pragmatic, I can do. Cold ****, sure. Evil? Nope. I fails at it.
I don't think it much reflects on my abilities as a roleplayer, as I see ability defined more in how you tell your story, not how far you can or cannot stretch from your own preferences. I'd prefer a good roleplayer who didn't deviate too far out of a certain territory to a terrible one that was all over the place with their character types. Or an elitist bastard of either camp.
