Logically at some point in development of DLC there's an optimum return where the players who do get it are satisfied but you haven't spent too many resources on something only 30% of players are experiencing. Making a character an LI is a hell of lot more dialogue, resources, animation, plot etc. Thus I suspect that's the line.

Plus I never said anything about him being bi or not, just an LI.

I wasn't talking about him being bi either. Why would you think I was?

I know, right?  It's all about that accent.  Honestly, I'm beginning to consider myself a very, very shallow person.  I like Sebastian as a character because he's a ginger and Scottish.  These are bad signs.

Oddly enough though, I'm also secretly hoping he's the mystical 'jerk' character and not Carver.  I would approve of Jerk!Carver as well, but something about Sebastian's whole revenge-binge and shooting arrows at old lady's makes me think he may not be a gentleman.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I was following the "was met second and less important to the plot." train of thought. 

But yeah the bi LI isn't always optional. Of Sky, Leliana, Zevran, Silk Fox, Isabela and Juhani only two of them are forced into your party so I can see where Shepard got the implication from.

I think the key here is that it's at-release DLC intended to reward all purchasers of new games. If you think about it, purchasers of used games mean absolutely nothing to BioWare -- that's no money in their pocket. So, basically, everyone who pays them money is getting that DLC... that's their entire marget segment as far as economics are concerned.

Fair argument. I can see it going either way. The amount of impact Shale had is what I would expect as a minimum from a DLC character btw, but being an LI requires more investment beyond that (unless the romance is very shallow, but why would they bother with that at all then). Your second argument is more compelling, which is why I'm not totally convinced about his LI status either way.

I agree re: minimum expectations for DLC character, though I must say, my minimum expectations are rarely delivered. I do think that being an LI requires additional investment, but Seb may not have as much to add to the main storyline quest as Shale did with Caridin, so I could see a trade-off there. But yeah, the economics one is the strongest argument for the possibility. I'm with you though -- it's 50/50. I'm not convinced he's a full-blown love interest. We know there's flirting dialogue, but it could be another Samara.

Not to incite a riot or unnecessarily stir the pot here, but there seems to be a great deal of anger over what characters are bi or gay and how important they are to the plot as a whole. For all the gay/lesbian/bi players, I would think you would be pleased that Bioware is being so inclusive of everyone regarding their sexual orientation. I don't know of any other games that do.



From a purely business point of view, it makes the most sense to cater to your chief demographic, and I think that is still primarily straight and male. Isn't it? Further, Bioware even risks alienating some of that crowd by including bi/gay/lesbian content. That makes them very progressive, as far as I'm concerned.

Don't worry, I don't feel belittled. While there are a few very high-profile individuals who tend to post a lot about their anger, my impression is that the majority of the f/f and m/m slashers on this board are not frantically discussing these options because we're angry or upset. I personally am just really excited and happy about all of them, and what can I say, I chatter non-stop about things that really make me enthusiastic!

You, sir, are a beautiful man despite the likelihood that you live under a bridge. I support more BDSM in DA2. Ah, Zevran and his "now that we've mentioned tying me up in that context, do we have any ropes about?" and the warden's possible dialogue option of "is [your nostalgia for leather] some kind of euphemism?" "not this time, no." Good times.

I wouldn't blame you if you didn't know, but the whole, "They're all bi!" "They're not all bi!" thing is a bit of an inside joke.

Reality: We are all very happy with what we get.  Are we hopeful we get more?  Yes.   Do we hope we aren't getting less than Origins?  Yes.  But I, for one, won't be fan-wanking in the streets or forums if I'm wrong about the whole they're all bi thing.

Except I won't be wrong.  Because they're all bi. :innocent:

I'm very happy everyone is happy then, as I too am happy! I am only sad the game will be out for only 6 days when I have to leave it behind for a week. However, since I will be flying off to London for that week, I won't be TOO sad.

Also... Everytime I watch Isabela's bar-fight scene and hear her introduction for the first time I swoon just a little.
