Knowing who the male s/s option is will kill the character for many before they know anything about him. People will brush him aside/kill him on sight due the fact that he can be romanced by guys and that's just gay.

In a way Bioware is protecting the poor guy.

...Your right I forgot how utterly stupid, shallow and judgement people could be. (The people who would kill the s/s option not you). 

But they'll end up killing him anyway might as well get the posturing out of the way now! <_<

How the hell can you possibly know whether you like or don't like any of these characters yet? 3. That Anders story is hilariously urple. And the Isabela one reads like a horrible Mary Sue fanfic. Just saying.

So, speaking of v-day, I got a rose delivered in my fourth period class today from my boyfriend. It made me think of Alistair (later, when I wasn't all AWW).

And YAAY! Romance conformations maaan. I think since my f!Cous Cous went the obvious route and romanced Alistair (ok what I'm a softie)... so f!Hawke is going to romance Isabela. Shakin it upp.

I would imagine that if Bioware released a female romance option DLC that was only for men or gay/bi females, the straight women on this forum would feel quite left out. It doesn't matter if the DLC is bought or not. It's still there.

Which means the answer is clearly that they should make him a romance....and make another dlc character lady that's romanceable!

Maybe one of the reasons Devs don't like to release info like romances and LI is because a good chunk of the forum turns into OMG SPITTING ACID RAGE and trite sexist comments.



Seriously. Why aren't we all thankful? Yaay thankfulness! They didn't HAVE to reveal the LIs. Hell. They didn't even HAVE to reveal four outstanding short stories revealing their psyches. But they did, as a cool gesture to us. And this is how we are repaying them? By pulling our nose in the air and complaining about how the free meal doesn't have enough side dishes?

I'm glad they revealed them, but to be blunt, none of them interest me in the slightest. Guess  I will be hanging out at the local brothel.

In my opinion, this is how I perceive the list of LIs:

Anders-witty mage (a.k.a Alistar), been done

Fenris-Thane/Zevran, been done.

Isebella-A dark haired Liliana who knows how to sail.

Merrill-New, can't really compare her.

Absolutely no insult implied to you writers and programmers. This is simply how I am seeing the options.
You've put an amazing game together so far. I was just hoping we could have pushed the envelope a little bit: you did this with the Samara romance (a romance that goes nowhere), but you could have done this with adding Varric in the mix (although you would have faced equal criticism).

That being said, keep going y'all. Can't wait to see the game in March

To be fair, I think you can pigeonhole any character into the shape of another character if you generalize enough. Isabela does not strike me as anywhere near as religious, whimsical, or even as girly as Leliana was. They are both rogues, yes, but Isabela is also more sassy and independent. I also think that Fenris is filled with a lot more world weariness and hatred than Thane, the stoic and philisophical alien, or Zevran, the sensual assassin.

I wouldn't mind a Sebastian romance though.  But I suspect since he's DLC, he might not be available due to his wife being murrrdurred or some such. If that is the case, he might end up like Aveline. I really don't think they would unbalance the romance options for male and female players, but I could be wrong.

And believe me, those were simply my first impressions.  They were not meant to be detailed at all.  I hope I am being unfair in my generalizations, because I love it when Bioware surprises me. 

I could make arguments that Leliana is as independent as Isabella appears to be, or that Zevran can be compared to Fenris in world-weariness (for Thane, it's a "Can kill you in 1 move" sort of similarity), but you are absolutely entitled to your comparisons, and I can absolutely see where you are coming from.  

Man, have you heard Seb's voice?  Yes please.  I doubt he's a LI in waiting, but it would still be nice

Yet at least by not telling us is a potentual bisexual character the characters who can indeed be bisexual will be seen by their merits, not by the facts that they are as some would say "flaming homosexuals" or other such nonsense.

This way, people can get to know the team before any really negative influence is given...while subsequent playthroughs will have to deal with the forbidden knowledge that a character has the potential to be homosexual/ bisexual.

To all of you guys who were on the Varric thread, I apologize for the grossly immature manner in which I posted...was not a good judgement call. I will thus edit the posts out of existance. Sorry about that folks.

Eh, that's not what it's about.  White knighting implies that I care how the person I'm "defending" feels.  I just think the whole "gross dwarf" meme is annoying.  Casual dismissiveness bugs me as a rule because it seems the be the opposite of critical thinking.  Not that I haven't been guilty of it myself from time to time.

If that's the reasoning then I am disappoint. Such people will be like that regardless. Just like they were with Zevran.

Oh well I'll just wait another two weeks for it to be leaked from a reviewer.

Did you read the story that accompanied this reveal? Pretty much the only thing he has in common with Alistair now is the taint and the potential to reduce his fangirls to tears of heartbroken woe by the end of the game. 

At your question, I did go back and read the snippet.  My first impression now is Anders is a complicated magic-using Alistar.  
I can definitely see the tear of fangirl tears though already begin to form.
