According to Urban Dictionary, it is a combination of pink and purple in the worst possible way that is painful to look at.Sabariel wrote...

I'm not sure whether this thread is amusing or exasperating.
1. All the people saying "I like ___!" or "I can't stand ___!" or "I think ___ is boring!" Jumping to conclusions, much? How the hell can you possibly know whether you like or don't like any of these characters yet? Not only has the game not been released yet, but we haven't even gotten character-centric trailers like we did for Origins. Virtually all we know about each of these characters, LI's and non-LI's alike, can be summed up in a paragraph or two. Anyone ever heard the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover"?
2. The following is clearly both an unpopular and a non-politically-correct opinion, but I don't care. Making all the love interests available to both male and female Hawke would be idiotic. This might be news to some of you, but believe it or not, not everyone in the world is bisexual. For all the romanceable characters in the entire game to just magically happen to swing both ways would strain immersion to the breaking point.
3. That Anders story is hilariously urple. And the Isabela one reads like a horrible Mary Sue fanfic. Just saying.
What the heck is an urple?

I'm not sure precisely where it lies on the list, but "Anders is just like Alistair" is near the top of "Positions I Cannot Comprehend."
Well, personally, I thought they looked similar, sounded similar, and had a similar sense of humour. But beyond that, they weren't alike at all.
Not that I minded the similarities. I liked them both a lot. I didn't care that much for Awakening as a whole, but other than Sigrun and Oghren (crap, they're both the dwarves

Anders-witty mage (a.k.a Alistar), been done
Did you read the story that accompanied this reveal? Pretty much the only thing he has in common with Alistair now is the taint and the potential to reduce his fangirls to tears of heartbroken woe by the end of the game.
At your question, I did go back and read the snippet. My first impression now is Anders is a complicated magic-using Alistar.
I can definitely see the tear of fangirl tears though already begin to form.
I was so totally unbelievably head over heels get out of my head and into my pants in love with Alastair:wub:
I feel nothing for Anders.

The reasoning behind the "Anders is just like Alistair" is the fact that both characters are similar looking guys who fill out the role as comic relief.JrayM16 wrote...

Similarly, both Zevran and Fenrir play the role of "redeemed murderer" or "enslaved at birth, never had a choice".
I am still waiting for the "Varric is just like Oghren" announcement because both characters are dwarves...I have heard of less intelligent thought processes.

I wonder what Vengene would do if you were a Chantry supporting warrior with Templar talents?
...That would be quite the thing to see.

And believe me, those were simply my first impressions. They were not meant to be detailed at all. I hope I am being unfair in my generalizations, because I love it when Bioware surprises me.
I could make arguments that Leliana is as independent as Isabella appears to be, or that Zevran can be compared to Fenris in world-weariness (for Thane, it's a "Can kill you in 1 move" sort of similarity), but you are absolutely entitled to your comparisons, and I can absolutely see where you are coming from.
Man, have you heard Seb's voice? Yes please. I doubt he's a LI in waiting, but it would still be nice
His voice actor is like butta. <3

Well, they're leaving themselves out for refusing to romance the character. I figure every potential DLC romance should be for either gender, but the sex of the DLC character doesn't matter. So, what if there are three men and two women? You still get four or five potential lovers.
The character isn't her player. When I play male Hawke, I'll probably play a straight romance with Merrill. That's not because I like women, it's because my character likes Merrill. *shrug*
I understand. It's just that not every player is like that. There are obviously no hard statistics on this, but it seems to me whenever I read the threads about "Are you good or evil on your first playthrough?" or similar, people will do what they would do in real life and hard role playing comes in second playthroughs. And a lot of players who step into DA but not a lot of other RPGs won't role play Hawke because that is not their style. They won't 'be' Hawke. They will just be a player making choices.
I think my point here is that equality in player sexual orientation is what the DA franchise appears to be going for. Two men and three women isn't really balanced for the playerbase. From a role playing perspective it's fun, yeah, because the more the merrier, amirite? But as far as the person sitting behind the TV or computer monitor goes, no, it is not balanced to all orientations.
So, I don't think Sebastian will be romancible, unfortunately for us.

I've also heard that we get to romance NPCs that don't join the party. Is that still true?
Not been confirmed either way. You'll get opportunitiies to flirt with people outside of your party... whether or not it will lead to anything more than that, only time will tell.

I think I might just have to make a Hawke that flirts with everything that has two legs, just to see how that turns out.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

I'm sure my character will take a pretty sexually extroverted stance until she gets her hands on someone she can really fall for. She's not going stay celibate for years waiting for Isabela to wise up, that's for damn sure. She's got needs, sheesh.

My hope is that they're all available to everyone and BioWare thinks that once we find this out for ourselves, we'll be so delighted that we'll forgive them for not telling us about it sooner
I hope so too. It makes the most sense. The hetero-only LIs in DA:O drifted into romantic dialogue trees at times anyway, why not just make them open to all? Does it really affect the story or gameplay either way? And with the dialogue wheel with icon, you will know if you're flirting with an NPC, so you don't have to pursue liaisons you don't want to.
But seriously, no dwarf love? And Aveline--sure, at the beginning she'll be in mourning for her husband, but one would think over the course of ten years, respite would come and we could bond over the loss of loved ones together. Nope, only the young and pretty have a chance at romance. <_<
That rant aside, I'm still really looking forward to this game, and getting to know all the companions.
