You may disagree with that accesment but it doesn't automatically make it trolling. Besides  I don't think that's what the poster was suggesting anyway but rather pointing out how bioware has shown a willingness to push bounderies.

But I can't see any game company or its fanbase treating it with the sensitivity it would require, so it's a moot point. Never gonna happen.

Incest might make for a decent 'forbidden love' plotline in a truly grown-up game. Like Turin & Neinor in 'Children of Hurin'. I wouldn't have thought anything less of Turin if he'd shrugged and said: 'She's my sister, you say? Whatever. I love her anyway." But he wasn't that kind of guy...

Another example I've mentioned before is 'Scarface'. Tony Montana can have any woman in the world... apart from the one he really wants.

But hell, the fanbase couldn't handle it. It would be all 'OMG i boned my sister lol' nonsense.

But the idea itself could be an interesting literary device.

Never say never. The subject has already been touched upon in a few games. If any company would treat the subject with synsitivity and actually take it seriously it would be Bioware. I think Bethany was a great opportunity missed. *sigh*

Bethany being the hottest female companion in the game, they definitely should have changed her history and made her a family friend or something so that the romance option would be available. As it is, a ****ty pirate or a bean-pole elf. Grrrr.

 i'm wondering if there will be party banter if you enter into a romance with someone, like allistair and  leliana of you were a female warden with Allistair, or between Leliana and Morrigan if a male warden romancing both, it was an interesting representation of how small the camp was.

He can admit whatever he wants, doesn't make it true.  It's extremely common for people to misattribute the causes of events, especially when there's emotion involved.  And many writers even seem to acknowledge that enough in how they write characters.

I agree, it could work as some real tense writing.

That said, you know, no one is actually Hawke, and Carver and Bethany aren't actually your real life brother or sister, they're just pixels. You have no established relationship with them at this point. Until one is established in the game, all you're doing is lusting after good-looking pixels. I'd say that's okay. But then that's just me.

It just irks me a little bit when I see people so overly eager to slap a troll label on someone. There's nothing endearing about being called a troll. So you really belive every love interest will be bi? Is there anything more than wishful thinking for you to believe that? No way do i see Bioware suddenly making all LI characters bi.  I'm telling you it isn't happening and I doubt you're naive enough to truly believe that. Just sayin

Actually, we have a longstanding precendent of troll love in this thread (Taleroth and Ryzaki being a self-proclaimed ones, My Avatar is a Lizard, even moliami haha... I think maybe we're just unusually troll friendly, and do find it endearing). And yes, I do really believe every love interest will be bi. I think they weren't afraid to include them in DA:O and they themselves said that the bisexual love interests were romanced by more people and were far more successfull than they had previously imagined. The fact that they're not right now rushing to confirm that everyone is not bi to me indicates that, while they may or may not have made all the LI bi, they're not afraid to do so -- if they were afraid of the bad press, they would have shut down the rumor mill. I also like to think that the dragon age team and BioWare themselves have pushed the envelope a few times in video gaming, and that if anyone was going to be putting all bisexual LI into a game, they would be at the top of my list.

TLDR: The Dragon Age team received a positive reception to bisexuality in DA:O, and isn't afraid of bad press or they would have shut down the rumor mill. The only reason not to make them all bisexual in my opinion would be resource management (too costly) but in that case, I'm willing to err on the side of optimism.

EDIT: Also, can we just be friends? Haha. I don't know why I'm even arguing with a fellow someone in the 1% of people who support Carver/Bethany love XD

I never suggested Bioware wouldn't make all LI characters Bi because they are "afraid". I just think it won't happen because it would come across as forced and artificial. I'm not sure the fact that bioware hasn't gone through the trouble of releasing a public statement that not "all" LI characters will be bi is enough of an indication to support the idea. Of course I can't know for certain but I think all being bi is as likely as a future Bethany DLC romance add on. Hopefully I'll be dead wrong on that account but I won't be. No way only 1% support Bethany love. There are legions of us who are just too afaid to admit it

I'd say matters of the heart are best done in moderation and in relation to the story being told.
This story is about Hawke and his/her family and the rise to power. Not Hawke’s urge for forbidden love with a brother or sister, something that, if used, would have a substantial impact on the tone of the story. I'm perfectly fine with it never being a part of the game and for those who wish such an addition to the plot, there are always modifications and fan fiction – all outside of the Entertainment Software Rating Boards responsibilities.

I think I know the real reason the devs keep that their all bi thread open. It distracts people from making I wanna romance Bethany/Carver/Flemeth/Random person here threads because we're too busy arguing about whose bi or not.
