but to respond to your question, Because they are characters and have personailties that differ, And making everyone bi for the sake of fairness would be rather lame.
I do not care one bit about "fairness." Making all characters bi - or modifiable to preference based on the PC - seems like a low cost way to appeal to the largest possible audience. It's about resources, not fairness. And I do not ever play S/S romances myself.
The same question I asked above applies again: How does sexual preference conflict with the characters as we know them?
Well, I can't argue with the cost part. But, maybe an example would be a sort of Sten-like character, one who lived in a society where strict roles were enforced, and any bisexuality was repressed at best. Or maybe a super-religious character with a holier-than-thou attitude.

The Sten example would make perfect sense and I agree with it. The super religious thing works in real life, but is homosexuality frowned upon by the Chantry? I'm not sure.

3. Anders sounds....mature, while Justice/Vengeance sounds...immature. Probably not the best words for this, but it seems as if they sort of...switched roles, so to speak. I like the potential here.
I think what you're seeing may be Justice's (or Vengeance's) singular focus of destroying the Chantry and Templars struggling against Ander's recognition that Justice has changed somehow and may not be as beneficial or benevolent as he'd hoped. It reads as though they're an inseperable being and share their thoughts, so Ander's possible remorse or indecision is always going to be up against that singular focus of Justice. It isn't so much that Anders is mature or not, but a little more introspective than Justice.
He's going to be an interesting character for sure. I'll be interested to see how much of that inner dialogue comes out in game.
Yeah, I assumed someone was eventually going to put my thought into better words than I could. <_<
Thanks for making me look foolish.
On a more serious note, good point. Introspective is a good word, because I didn't see Anders as that inward looking in Awakening. He was very focused on how society worked, not on how he worked. This possibly changing in DA2 interests me. I will miss the old Anders if true, but the new one could be just as intriguing.

Elizabeth Hawke will flirt with Anders at the beginning. She'll tell him how cute he is, how funny he is, etc. But she'll really be devouring Isabela behind his back. And if Anders confronts her about it, she'll just dump him like yesterday's trash! HAHAHA!

Indeed, I have yet to see the Chantry take any view on homosexuality. I usually just assume since they are based on the Catholic church. So yeah, it's all about characters. But I would love to see more bisexual characters that make sense regardless.Upsettingshorts wrote...

I dont think the Chantry has anything against it. Nothing is ever mentioned, and Leliana is super religious, and she will go with a female Warden.JrayM16 wrote...

If we're talking about the video game, then you're right. The writers could write the game so that everyone who is bisexual treats both sexes as if they were the same, like fable.
But if we're talking reality, then no. If you were to meet a girl and a guy in the exact same scenario (say in a bar) with the exact same personalities and if you are a man straight for girls, then you will automatically react to her presecence diffrently than you would to the mans despite them having the same personality and being in the same situation due to hormones and all.

And that's all I'm saying, really. Or at least as far as companions and potential LIs go.

I'm not. Hence the "it's a video game" distinction. I mean, if we were making a reality based dating situation I'd be making a different argument. Romances are a bonus to a fantasy adventure RPG, and I don't really have issues with a game making bonus content more available to the widest possible audience, resources permitting.

I'm of the mind that Leliana is a lesbian. She never seems to have had a real relationship with men, she just seduces and uses them. Her love for Marjolaine was real. (And so was her love for your male Warden, I guess, but I'd say that's because she happened to love your Warden, not because she's used to falling in love with men) Plus, it makes MY Warden feel better knowing that Leliana's never really been into men. I dunno why, she can be funny like that. Sometimes we argue for hours about things like this

True, though even Leliana makes quite clear her disdain for certain CHantry attitudes, so there is room for speculation.

I would argue that there was a reason Sten wasn't a LI.
It seems to me that what people don't want (and feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong) is a party that consists entirely of 7-8 party members who are all bi. I agree that this is unrealistic, and probably shouldn't be done.
However, the party viaing for all-bi LI don't want the entire party to be bi. Just the LI, whom we only get 4 of. To me, this would cut down on a lot of the moaning and groaning we see post release.
"I don't like Zevran!" "Why couldn't I romance Alistair?" "What you talking about, Wilis? Zevran was awesome!" "Leliana is too preachy!" "I wanted Morrigan for F/F romance!"
As for the 'sexuality has to suit the character', I agree, but I also have a great amount of faith in the writing team. If they wanted to make all the romances bi, they would find a way to make it work.
I also get that, 'not everyone in the world is bi', but our party members all come from different corners of Thedas, and from different walks of life, and bring to the table different life experiences. To me, that allows some wiggle room to broaden the scope of bi party members.
Just my thoughts, anyway.
