@catabuca:  And the people on the forums who call the ME writing team "homophobic" because they chose not to write s/s romances (such as the ME romances are)?   But, the subject long since ceased to be old, so finis.

I personally believe the people who say the ME team are homophobic to be wrong, and I make this clear whenever that argument is raised (indeed I have just done so not 10 minutes ago elsewhere - how's that for timing?). Please stop generalising one opinion as belonging to everyone. You don't like it when 'the other side' do.

I agree we shouldn't generalize. I consider the fact that there are no s/s romances in ME as discrimination but that doesn't mean the writing team is homophobic, given that the final decision to include s/s romances or not is most likely out of their hands. IMHO Image IPB

So is anyone wondering what the "catches" are with the romances this time around?
Like the Morrigan/Alistair "catch"?

You know it's in there, at least for one of the romances.

Isabella's cheating on Hawke with an entire pirate ship.
Anders is going to be killed by Templars.
Merril finds out that the Blood Magic is killing her and she won't live past the final battle.
And Fenris must run away to protect Hawke from the people chasing him.

How's that for drama?

For starters would do, but I am sure you could do better since I could.

Edit: Unleash your inner drama queen and lol!

Edit: The best RP i have had and what eventually made me to play WoW a few years was in my first WoW RP server when I spammed a few times /1 general channel with "I challenge every woman to mind blowing relationship games".

Edit: Have to go take a walk, I am beginning to feel arrogant and think women can only make up some little drama lol when the fact is that women can be pro drama.

all those scenarios sort of reminds me of anime for some reason. if we are going that route, we must make DA2 in the same fashion as Gurren Lagann.

I see once again politics killing logic, and that is something I dislike very much.

To say BW or any company whatsoever should do gay romances is totally absurd. To say that if they don't do they are discriminating is not only absurd but blackmailing, sick, and twisted.

Any company, any writer, any artist, any programmer, and any person is totally free as in free speech to do or not do whatever romances and relationships he or she wants to do.

Please? :innocent:

As for th rest of your post: I too was pretty eh on Anders in the beginning but he's grow on me.

Oh I'm no fool! As long as Anders and Fenris are available to Lady Hawke, she's gonna be all over that! :devil:I promise.
Anyway, I'll come back later and post an AndersXmHawke sig~:police:

I don't know about you all but I think the Anders romance "feels" like it will have the biggest catch. I'm just preparing myself for it. I'm gonna try and be very careful with it and I have kept myself spoiler free but I have this one feeling that I should probably romance him through the rivalry path.

I have a feeling the friendship path might not be the answer to his problem in particular.

You haven't been around the forums much, eh?

lol! Seriously. People have been raging about ****** for months on these boards, basically campaigning for it. I think Bioware was absolutely coerced into making Fenris and Merrill Bi romance options which from what I've heard sounds like it wasn't originally planned and was done as an afterthought. Honestly I think a well developed Bethany romance would have been more interesting. Maybe there will be a DLC add on for that later.

This wasn't supposed to be a personal attack on you.  I was talking more about the people that have been openly and unapologetically homophobic.  I guess my problem with people saying they wouldn't  want to be with someone because they are attracted to both sexes seems closed-minded to me.  That being said, I can understand that not everyone thinks the way I do.  Evidently there is a straight romance option though if you count Sebastian, but he is a little celibate for my tastes.  All in all, I hope that it won't make such a big difference to you.  But if you enjoyed Zevran's romance, it probably won't be a huge issue :)

The only straight romance being celibate, that's got to be some kind of joke.  Hardy har har Bioware!   I don't have his DLC, so not even an issue for me (not sure if I'll get it or not).

"Closed minded," well people tend to be attracted to those like them- for the most part.  I just can't relate to that outlook so it puts me outside myself more, the same way that playing a male character, I was at more of a distance and mostly putting myself in the female LI's shoes as I was playing it.  There is also the issue that others have brought up, that Fenris' and Merrill's "status" being so unclear and seemingly keyed to fanservice rather than their story is something that makes me less enthused about them as LIs.  And since they were the two I was planning to go with... well, I don't like Isabela and have no interest in Anders, so I probably will stick to the original plan, but overall it adds to my sense of pessimism about the game.

I hear you. I totally thought Bioware would be above caving into to the petty and irrational demand of making all love interests bisexual. Fenris and Merril may not be "truly" bisexual as they were obviously "Bi-ed" up at the last minute. It definitely makes me wonder how seriously they've taken the game in general. I  totally share your pessimism.

Yes, 2 weeks ago BW saw us talking about how we thought the LIs might be BI, and they went back to the game and quickly implemented Merrill and Fen. That's totally how game design works. They called back the VAs, the redid animations, changed some endings, and they managed to get it to gold status again just in time for this week.

All hail the pressure of aufgestockt.

I beg your pardon? Are you just another person who finds that anyone with an opinion you disagree with makes them a troll? You don't have to approve of anything I have to say but knee jerk troll accusations are often the tactics of people with nothing to say and/or trolls themselves. ;)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Gay/Lesbian players did not force BioWare into doing/changing anything. Anyone who thinks we have that kind of power is delusional.

We saw articles, reviews and magazines that indicated all of the romances were equal-opportunity and got understandably happy/excited about it, as more options (insofar as the LI's are concerned) is something some of us wanted.

God forbid anyone express their happiness at a design change ever. =/

You see, there is listening to the fans' requests, and there is caving to the fans' petty demands. The distinction lies on whether or not the person in question agrees with the changes.

I agree.  They are clearly not depressed or sociopathic enough.  As they would have been if they'd been written that way all along.

I bet Fenris isn't even addicted to narcotics!

We do. If there wasn't an option of gay, I would ride my unicorn across a rainbow of glittery hatred toward Edmonton. They'd be told what's what, that's for sure!

Well based on what I've been hearing  the "bi-ness" is far less apparent and  they wil most likely be be relatively generic romances (likely with near identical dialogue) to fit with either gender.
