Well that certainly isn't why I wanted her as a romance option. I think she's sweet and I find the existing female romance options to be completely off putting. A pirate who seems willing to do the deed with anything that moves and a malnourished elf. So disappoinnting. :crying:

awwww. You poor thing

Or maybe it was simply an idea nobody thought of until it was too late. Who knows? We still might get some future Bethany romance  DLC content. ;)

David Gaider somewhat strongly/awkwardly dismissed the idea of a Bethany romance a long time ago, back when the weirdos were referring to it as "wincest".

Well obviously Bethany isn't currently a romance option, hence why it was dismissed. This doesn't illiminate the posibility of Bioware exploring that avenue in the future through DLC. And obvious trolling aside my interest isn't based on juvenile titillation based entirely on the sibling factor. I find Bethany very interesting as a character in general. I have no doubts that Bioware could handle it in a way that was tasteful and mature.

Sure, they should have implemented a Bethanymance. It's never been done before, and that's all the motivation they needed to do it. Clearly, those who don't want it are narrow-minded primitives.

Get real, people. It's not in because they did not want it to be in. Quit advocating for an incestuous romance on the sole grounds of it being groundbreaking.

I'm not saying that incest is bad, or good, or what have you. I'm trying to say that novelty for novelty's sake is where art goes to die.

Art is dead. It's been dead since Homer, who did have incestual romances in his stuff.

So, it's not groundbreaking. It's just a tired old re-tread of a tired old idea.

Just like life.

I am of course talking about videogames. A (player-centric) incestuous romance has never been done before, methinks.

Video games are simply another variation on the storytelling artform that Homer pioneered and perfected.

Everything they do is simply a tired old re-tread of what the ancients did, with the really tired old ideas being ditched. Like incest.

So, no. Not groundbreaking. Or new. Simply old, and pointless.

I will enthusiasticly go on the record as saying  incest and same sex sexual relationships are bad, mm'kay.  It's a no-brainer, right up there with "delicious cake is delicious."

Wait... what?

RetroActiv said that a Bethany romance might be "more interesting".

I meant that including Bethany as a romance options would have been more interesting than simply making everyone bi not that it would be more interesting or "above" than bi love intersts in general which I support by the way. ;)

At this point I really don't see sibling romances as being that far off. Anything goes right? :?

I'm not really a "sibling romance" advocate. lol! I just think having Bethany as a romance option would be intriguing. It's a game for adults and if you aren't mature enough to handle the subject matter even existing then maybe you just shouldn't play the game. Besides it not like it would be mandatory but rather just another option.

Sounds like one of those manga plotlines of having the main male character finding out that he and his sister aren't actually blood related.
Too cliched in my opinion.

I myself had hoped that Cassandra (the seeker girl) would be a LI, kinda sucks how we are stuck with Isabella or an elf, since I'm not really into elves <_< but thats just my opinion.

I think Bioware has good enough writers to avoid cliches and would handle it quite well. How many people are actually so familiar with anime with similar themes anyway? Besides I never said anything about a plotline where they find out they aren't blood related. :P

Well it would be a sort of a compromise. But if you want it as true incest, it would be against societal norms and would probably cause an outrage amongst anti-video game lobbyists anyways. Incest is illegal almost everywhere in the world (in this case brother-sister). And I think Bioware could be criminally responsible for depicting incestuous relations.

The "Bethanymance" (dang how do people come up with this stuff) would be morally corrupt and I think even though Dragon age takes place in a fictitious setting, there are boundaries where lines have to be drawn. I mean, how would you react if you find that a possible LI is a 15 year old farmboy/girl that you rescue on a side mission? I think its safe to say that it would be met with disgust. I hope it does.

What I meant was: David Gaider seemed kinda creeped out by it, so it's highly unlikely incest dlc will ever be taken into consideration.

Are you serious? You think Bioware could be criminally charged by depicting a sibling romance in a fictional story? lol

In some countries it's illegal to depict sex acts involving minors, even artistically*. It's why Japanese anime porn films have the characters aged up for foreign releases.

*I mean this as in animation or cartoons. I don't think hentai has much artistry as a general rule. I'm sure someone will disagree.

Well "depending on the country" if it were deemed too objectional it would merely be banned from the country. Bioware games have been banned before for including same sex romance too. Doesn't seem like they're too worried about it based on they're romance setup in DA 2 though ;)
