WOW.
There is a LOT of thinly-veiled (and blatant) homophobia or just plain ignorance in this thread. Frankly, I'm amazed that BioWareEA even decided to include a M/M romance option at all.
I feel ashamed to call myself a "gamer", if this thread is an indication of what the average "gamer" thinks like.
(Though, to be fair, I'd bet that most of the homophobic or "I don't know any bi/gay guys" posts are made by teenagers or guys who live in their parents' basement.)

Actually, RPG fans are probably the most LGBT friendly subgenre of gamers. Just go on Xbox Live and start a match on Halo or COD, after a few minutes you should see what I mean. I'm proud to call myself a "gaymer."

I want to believe that, but there are some really horrible posts in this thread and on this forum in general.

Haters gonna hate I suppose. There's ignorance in every group, and I do mean EVERY group.

Plus people with very vehement negative opinions always manage to come across very loudly, and as though there are far more of them than there actually are. Laid-back, easy-going, live and let live kinds of folks often make up a silent, or at least more quiet, majority.
OT: Thought the stories were good. I was surprised by Merrill's - she's the companion I've been least interested in until now, but that snippet about her was intriguing.

While I had been gunning for Aveline and was upset she wasn't available when confirmed, I'm happy to know now that the possible option for fem!Hawke (as much as I would love it to be Merill, I have a gut feeling its Isabela) appears to be just as good.
I started out not liking Isabela at all, but after reading that brief story into her character...well, I think I may have been swayed

Oh yeah, I'm plenty scarred from ME (1 and 2) still. At the moment I'm finding it helpful to keep my rage for the ME team ... because the DA team seem to be, well, more awesome right now
ME1 too? I thought all it was missing was Shepard x Kaidan. Otherwise it was awesome. Less so the retcon, I mean, sequel.
I think David Gaider is one of the good guys. I don't think he'd willingly mislead us.
But until it's confirmed, I'm not buying it. This today confirms nothing, and Mr Priestly's invite to woo companions that ultimately won't be interested in my character is not something I'm going to take up.

I hope they don't go the Mass Effect way though and we know Isabella likes women if you played as a woman in Origins you could sleep with her so it would be lame to take that out.

Are you allowed M/M and F/F relationships in DAII? Or will it be like Mass EffectS?

It's been confirmed somewhere that 2 of the LIs will be available for same sex romance. Isabela for the ladies, (I think?), who the guys get hasn't been announced yet.

Do we actually know for a fact Isabela is a bisexual LI? For all we know she might just be into sex with women for pleasure, while she's men-only when it comes to emotion. Well, for all I know anyway, hence I'm asking if we've actually had her bisexual LI-ness confirmed or not =D
Dunno, to be honest. But even if she is just into gay sex for a laugh, it would seem a bit weird if the Bio writers took that aspect of her character away. That said, of all the female companions, I'd prefer Aveline, or, more recently, Merrill.

Well DG confirmed in a thread a while back that there would be a m/m LI. That there will be only one f/f LI may be a bit of an assumption, though a reasonable one I think, given how things played out in Origins. But who knows? It could be Merrill AND Isabela

Hey, you never know. I remember before Origins I kind of assumed that Morrigan would be the f/f LI (not sure why I thought that), then was nicely surprised with Leliana.

The few people who are homophobes on these threads are a very small percentage of gamers. I don't care who's bi or gay as long as I don't know about it in my game. Really, I'm not homophobic. I'm an author and one of my favorite characters in my novels is bi and in a long term lesbian relationship. My story, I dated a bisexual man for 2 years in college and had no idea until I heard he cheated on me with a guy. I was in love with him and he told me that he was in love with me, wanted to marry me and have kids. Apparently not. Anyway, if Anders is the bi option, I don't want to know about it. I don't care if he is, just don't want to know about it.
On another note, I'd love for Sebastian to be a love interest. I don't see why the Dev team can't create a female DLC that is romanceable for the guys. In fact, I'd buy the female companion too to add to my party. I really don't think there are enough party members.
