I don't know why! But I do.
Either way, I'll be playing a female toon, heeelllllooo Fenris.

If I read the word "retcon" tossed around like confetti one more time I will break my keyboard. Or your keyboard. That sounds better.
I didn't turn him into a decent man who become a great Grey Warden mage, just to run off murdering Templars and fellow Wardens.

*retcon* *retcon*
*retcon* *retcon*
That's my best confetti impression, sorry.
It was a nice impression.
And it's not a retcon if he ends up possessed by an insane demon. It would have been a retcon if Bioware had changed his personality without giving any in-universe explanation.

My problem is that it's in conflict with a few epilogue outcomes, and I happen to have one of these on my world saves.
Unless it happens in two months of course, then it's fair game.
But hey, you are right, Framed Narrative, there is nothing wrong, Varric is just dumb.

The stories are all by the writers of the characters. I wrote the Anders story, Dave Gaider wrote Fenris, Sheryl Chee wrote Isabela and Mary Kirby wrote Merrill.
Oh that's awesome, thanks Jennifer for the reply... I loved them too much

Any chance of similar short stories for the non-LIs......greedy I know, but I found them more interesting than most of the previews so far.

You ought to do more of this "writing" stuff, you're good at it.

Gotta agree with you, I really want Merrill to be a f/f option, I'd GLADLY take her over Isabella.ToJKa1 wrote...
Hmm, if Merril is not a f/f LI, i just may have to play once with a Male Hawke. The horror... the horror!

Well thank you all for the stories, they were all very interesting in their own ways, and I found Merrill's very interesting actually, she's so adorable.

No Aveline? We seriously need a middleground between Merril (virginal girl next door) and Isabella (definitlely not a virginal girl next door).
Implying that Aveline, a middle-aged widow is only....moderately virginal? :/
I suspect the main reason Aveline wasn't chossen was choice. They wanted two females/two males. And, as a woman who just lost her husband, luring her into your boudoir would have been just as weird as when you canoodled Jaheira into your sack in BG2 (though that was beyond weird, especially if you had been playing with her and her husband throughout all of BG1).
Sort of. I am more or less refering to having a love interest that doesn't represent an extreme. It was implied by a dev that Merrill was the steriotypical "virginal girl next door" while we already know that Isabella is sort of a steriotypical skanky/seductive wild girl. It would be nice to have something in between. (sort of how Miranda was a middleground between Tali and Jack in ME2)
On to your second point, the storyline takes place over 10 YEARS. It is not unrealistic that at some point in that time period Aveline would want to move on.
Also, we don't actually know whether or not she is middle aged. For all we know she could be younger than Isabella and Merrill.

Just wanted to mention that I give you a big big thumbs up for your writing, Jennifer. I loved how you transitioned from Anders' to Justice/Vengeance's POV without announcing it explicitly.

Aveline is middle-aged?
Have we ever been told how old she actually is? Judging from her model I wouldn't go beyond 35.
