Yeah, I'd be kind of mortified if my desired LI looked at my Hawke and went 'you know what? No thanks. Let's be pals, though! '<_<

I wouldn't. The idea that a character should desire you just because you desire them only serves to add an air of spuriousness to the whole thing.

The pool of potential partners would need to be largened to compensate though, so i guess it is something that will just never happen.

If I want to get 'friendzoned' I can always play ME2.

Multiple 'let's just be friends' scenarios, in fact.

Maybe both Anders and Fenris are straight. Maybe Sebastian is the bisexual option. Maybe BioWare will tent their fingers evilly and laugh while people complain that the only way to get some man-on-man loving is by purchasing a DLC...

...Though my real vote still goes to bisexual Vengeance.

I would offer BW my internal organs for some f/f DLC...

How many Microsoft Points can I get for a lung?

This reminds me of the Yasreana npc mod for BG2, with a pseudo-romance for male PCs where if you continue to attempt to romance her she eventally makes it clear she's not interested in you in that manner (being in love with with someone else that she is searching for, which you do have some clear indications of before hand).  I went into that one kinda blind, but I thought it was a cool idea (had to reload once though cause I lost Viccy through it, and I couldn't let that happen :))

Anders is CONFLICTED because he FEELS LIKE TWO PEOPLE.

This could NOT POSSIBLY be a hint that he IS BISEXUAL.

Just like in Fenris' story, he breaks into a woman's home and admires her cleavage.

And in Merrill's story, she is "seduced" by an overpowering force.

Don't any of you understand subtext.

But in a game where you're the hero(ine), you're badass and gorgeous, and rich, and laden with glorious loot, and generally the person who everyone wants to be/be with? Well the whole thing is sort of an exercise in fantasy fulfillment, no? So introducing the idea of pixelated rejection would itself add the spurious quality, I think. As though an attempt were being made to inject 'realism' into something that isn't, by any measure, realistic.

I get the idea, I really do, and it's interesting, but nothing I'd want to experience in my game where everyone loves me!

I can get rejected in real life, thank you!

All companions should be 'Hawke-sexual'. I know plenty of straight guys who would be 'gay for Johnny Depp'. Or girls who want Megan Fox.

I recall BG2 with fondness when I found the Les mod. Slept with Aerie, she dumped me. Vicci fell in love with me, she dumped me. Jaheira fell in love with me... we were an item. Then Vicci loved me again, we had kids (gotta love magic), she died. Ended up with Jaheira by default.

Fenris is being hunted constantly by men, not women. Hmmmn.... ;)

Maybe. It would depend on how you look at it.

The simple act of being rejected could be seen as rather mundane, and i certainly wouldn't want it added solely for the sake of realism. However, i've seen a few comments praising the decision to not make Meredith a potential love interest. Although no one knows the in-game reasoning yet, some of the projections make a lot of sense, and are based entirely on her characterisation.

If the reasons for rejection are simply "i don't find you physically attractive" or the like, then yeah -- that's not a good move. If the reasons are a little deeper than that, and imbued into the personality and characterisation of a person, then i am all for it.

I would also think that the people you are traveling with are are probably not susceptible to the whole "hero with lots of loot" thing Hawke will have going for him/her.

I'm 99% sure that Merrill won't be a f/f option, and that's terrible, because Isabella is such a stereotypical "promiscuous pinup girl with giant knockers" and really is just not attractive. She looks like she should be working at Hooters.

It feels like BioWare is pandering to the lowest common denominator of "hurr guys like chicks with big boobies" which is a shame because the Mass Effect team did not do that. Jack has very small breasts, and is by far the most attractive girl in the series.

While that would be an awesome surprise and something that Bioware hasn't technically ruled out, I do doubt that it would be the case. They have said that not necessarily every option is available to every gender - which pretty much makes it one m/m option and one f/f option in the party - with possibly many other options among NPCs.

Personally, I'm cool with that. I like both Anders and Fenris as characters - so I'm happy either way. Posted Image

Isabela's Leliana 2.0. Not only are they both human, but they're both rogues too. There's no escaping that one, BioWare dropped the ball there.

No... she's a pirate! *insert Pirates of the Caribbean music cue*

Ok, she's a rogue pirate... or is it pirate rogue? Nevermind.

On topic: I don't think they are the same category, especially not romance-wise.
Their attitude seems to differ a lot. And visually they appeal in very different ways.

wrong movie/ game/ oh well you get the idea
this is getting confusing..
is Isabella
a) Leliana 1.5
B) Leliana 2.0
c) Rogue Pirate
d) Pirate Rogue
e) Cool Sexy Pirate Lady
f)  None of the above

i would sail with her anytime or anywhere in Thedas so i would say option E :P

I agree, but beggars can't be choosers. If she's the only one available, I'll take it.

And Jack had a pretty face; really pretty under the tats and the attitude. It sucks that not only couldn't I romance, her, I couldn't befriend her either.

I'd wait until you play the game first before you write Isabella off as just a 'promiscuous pinup girl with giant knockers', you might be pleasantly surprised by the other aspects to her character (and is that act partly a front, like Zevran's happy-go-lucky attitude).

Anyway, you might find she isn't anything like you expect her to be

Heck, I'm gay and I find Isabella smoking hot. Posted Image She's definitely my romanceable in my second "straight" playthrough.

Of course I have a thing for piratical roguish strong women who get into bar fights... lol

Mr Gaider has already said Isabela has lots of depth and she's his favourite character.

Given her appearance, she's a rouge pirate.
Or at least, a rouged pirate.

And to the writers of the short stories - kudos! I enjoyed them. When I saw "Anders is back" I was ambivalent since I found his character in DAA a bit "meh". The story has changed my mind and now I look forward to adventuring with him.

The thing that i find most alluring about Isabella is that she can take care of herself. We've seen her defeat groups of men single handed, and although nothing she said in Origins suggests that she's aversed to giving it away to anyone that takes her eye, i think that it will be much harder to take her heart.

Her physical endowment has little to do with it. I wish she'd lose the headthing that she wears.

Romances aren't a big thing to me, but I really enjoyed the stories. Looking forward to seeing more.

EDIT: Though Isabella's dominating personality is hot.  I hope she's very dominating with M!Hawke.
