With all due respect to the forum moderators, it's hard for those of us who are interested in pursuing a m/m romance to discuss it, since the straight romances have been confirmed while we are being unfairly marginalized.

I'm beginning to suspect BioWareEA has something to hide - like maybe there actually isn't a true m/m romance with another party member, and any m/m romance available is in the form of an NPC.

From the m/m thread:

DG: "Wow, that's some paranoia right there. Consider male-male romance confirmed, then."

That doesn't exactly disprove the statement. Male/male romance would still be in even with a NPC.

That doesn't sound very likely to me. (But what do I know?)

Yes, it is probable that all of the romances announced will be available to opposite-gendered PCs, but I would be surprised if Garrett has no chance of finding love inside the party. I'm counting on it for my male Hawke run.

Anders has a history with women, but so do many bisexual men. We know next to nothing about Fenris' preferences. So I wouldn't give up on them quite yet. Posted Image

True, though another dev (I think it was Laidlaw?) did say they haven't 'taken any steps backwards', so they have my faith for the time-being.

Mael is trying the exact same thing in the Isabela and F/F romance thread.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't be surprised if it was an non-companion NPC.

I wouldn't, either. To be honest I think it'd be kinda cool if there was a romanceable (s/s) non-party member who is a really important character in the story (not just a side fling). Aarin Gend from NWN comes to mind.

Would still prefer Anders, though. =]

True.

I'm gonna be a pessmist though and assume that's why there's no clarifcation on the m/m option up there (as for the f/f well we already know its izzy but if they put up the f/f option people would've been even more confused about the lack of m/m).

One of the devs said 'consider M/M confirmed' in the M/M thread, IIRC. Don't worry guys, you'll have an option, we just don't know what it is yet.

I'm sure M/M will be available as a full, in-party romance. I think the paranoia is just continuing; they don't really need to spell it out again.

Since Anders & Fenris were my #1 and 2 choices, I'm content with either and will hope someone will find a way for me to sneak in a fake M/M romance with the other one via mods.

I also hope to hear how beloved Queen Alexander Cousland is doing with Alistair lol.

What? Isabela blatantly flirts with a FHawke in one of the vids, how can there be any doubt about that?

On that note, I see at least two of the romances are apostate mages. I wonder how that will affect the whole templar v mage conflict that will be a big part of the game. I can foresee big break-up scenes happening.

I actually got the impression in Awakening that Anders was possibly bisexual. He makes some funny comments to Nathaniel, and while he talks about women, he also makes some references which could apply to trysts with someone of either gender (such as the comment about why robes are so handy in the Circle Tower).

Fenris, I don't really think it fits. He seems like he'd barely be interested in someone of any gender, let alone both.

Clearly they're trying to seduce you to the apostate side of the argument. ;)

I also thought Anders was a bit flamoyant and possibly Bi in Awakening. But, I also thought Alistair could have been also. I guess I can see he bi in everyone (except Sten and any Dwarvern character).

Plus the family thing. Either you or your sister are also apostates.

Damn, RPing a Chantry-loving TemplarHawke might be tough. We'll see.

Well as long as the boob size isn't too much exagerate, I don't mind (bigger isn't always better). The most important thing to me in an RPG is the story and the character development (with romance if possible).

I agree. I do not want a Hooter Hawke :D

Thank goodness Varric isn't a romance :]

I can't see Femhawke with a man half her height.

Even the romancable characters who aren't mages don't seem all that fond of the status quo, at least with regards to other things.  Fenris clearly doesn't want to live as any kind of second-class citizen.

I don't see where this is coming from. Sure, I get the bad blood about Mass Effect. I'm with you on that one. But David Gaider has been doing an admirable job of keeping us in the loop as best as he can without breaching his obligations to BW.

There is absolutely no reason given for thinking this. We can rest assured that at least one option is m/m. And David has alluded to there may be more than one option - but he hasn't (for obvious reasons) confirmed or denied anything.

I expect that there will be a few romanceable NPCs and there is some speculation that Sebastian - The Exiled Prince - might also be romanceable.

Myself? I'm happy knowing that there is at least an option within the party and likely to be a few options outside the party. Anything more than that is going to be just extra awesome. Posted Image

Alright, I can see how some people might be a bit peeved because they haven't specifically announced a M/M romance yet...but seriously people, they just confirmed the four romanceable character's YESTERDAY. Based on playing DA:O, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that either Anders or Fenris is going to be M/M romanceable. My money is on Fenris, since with his whole "I am inhabited by a demon" thing I just can't see it happening with Anders.

If Anders is able to romance a woman while possessed, why would he be unable to romance a man?

Well, "finally" after a long while, anyway, if you are considering BioWare's entire track record.  In Baldur's Gate 2 all the female love interests were of elven blood.

So you can't see a M/M romance between Anders and Hawke, but you can see a M/F? I can't see either, frankly, but I'm sure Bioware will do something brilliant. Actually, my bet is on Anders, since we can't have a  Bisexual elf 2 games straight.

He reminds me kind of like a shrew. Tiny, hairy, and did I mention tiny?
EDIT: Anyway, yes, I cannot see femhawke, who looks very good to be with a man who is wider than he is tall. OR short in his case
EDIT2: The very same reason I couldn't play through Origins as a male Elf or male Dwarf. It doesn't seem realistic enough for me that Morrigan would be the type of girl that goes for a short guy.
UNLESS HE IS RICH! Omg! I just had an idea... That I probably won't follow through with. Done with Origins till I finish DAII

Alright, point taken...some part of my brain is still trying to imagine him as a romanceable option at all, some part of me was hoping for Varric.  With the whole possession thing, Anders may be a bit of a "Bad Boy" (granted the pictures I've seen of Fenris indicate he might be one too), and there seem to be a number of games/books/etc out there where girls fall for the bad boy type.  Anders might be romanceable by both.  It should be interesting to see either way.
