Perles, I think he meant that the game wouldn't be as realistic.

Anyway, I think that the bissexual option is Anders.

Since I've played Awakening I always though that he was not bissexual, but homossexual. I really can't point the reason, perhaps it is his voice, or the gifts we give him... I always though of him as my character's "gay friend". Even the way he flirted with girls to me didn't sound natural at all, it sounded like he was trying to "overcompensate", hide his true feelings.

Anyway, there's also the "double personality" thing, and that in itself is already a good "plot hook" for adding this feature.

I also think Anders is the m/m option, but I never thought of him as homosexual, mainly because the entire encounter with Namaya indicates that he did sleep with her, and he doesn't hate her (he even stares after her when she walks away for a few beats longer than the Warden does). You can even get him to flirt-joke about the female Warden being jealous or, if your Warden is male, he says she's usually much more "friendly" than that. None of it seems forced or like posturing to me.

But you may have lost me with the gifts. I did not know only dudes who are into other dudes like nice things. How is a scarf and jewelry *that* much different from a standard Dad gift of a necktie or a fancypants watch or cufflinks? Since when is pet ownership certifiably gaybones?

Not bloody likely, which renders him completely redundant Imho.

Anders did have a fondness of Cats - Meow.....

He must be gay.

Now hes possessed by Justice, he must be Macho and Gay.

I'm actually really happy about the LI, considering I find all of them interesting. Still, I feel pretty bad about Aveline and Varric fans not getting what they wanted. Hope there're mods for you, guys and girls! :) And there will always be DA3 and flirting :D

I didn't really like the idea of Isabela being in DA2 but now I'm sure she's going to be my Lady Hawke's sismance. Fenris I'm very interested in because of the Wolverine-like history, Anders was my favorite in Awakening (Alright, maybe second favorite. Right after Oghren. Yeah, I loved the dwarf.) Merrill probably won't be in my party much so I'll miss out on her but if I ever get to playing MHawke maybe I'll make up for that.

If this thread proves one thing, it's that video gamers are a self-entitled lot. Those with progressive attitudes on sexuality, as much as any.

It's really kind of laughable that some expect every romanceable character to be open to every kind of relationship. While Ferelden seems to be an incredibly accepting and sexually liberal place to live, so is San Francisco and not every man there would be interested in a romantic trist with me.

I liked what BioWare did with Samara in Mass Effect 2. The idea that you can pursue somebody only to have them rebuff your advances makes the whole romance subplots seem that much more real to me. Not that it happens a great deal to me in the real world, of course.

I think it would be cool if things other than gender were taken into account when attempting to pursue a romance -- such as your actions, background etc.

How are people not getting that programming a fictional character to not care about the gender of the PC is NOT THE SAME THING as real-world bisexuality?  These aren't actually people, for crap's sake.

Regarding the m/m option I personally hope it's Anders (can't really see why it would be so weird if he's bi-sexual) but if it's Fenris who's the bi-option then I'll just end up playing female instead of male on my second playthrough, so in the end it's no big deal to me, at least they are LI's ^_^.

Anders is CONFLICTED because he FEELS LIKE TWO PEOPLE.

This could NOT POSSIBLY be a hint that he IS BISEXUAL.

Just like in Fenris' story, he breaks into a woman's home and admires her cleavage.

And in Merrill's story, she is "seduced" by an overpowering force.

Don't any of you understand subtext.

Dude, I teach subtext.  So what?  Anders may be "bi," but I really, really hope it isn't because he's got a demon in him.  That would be ridiculous, and play into too many right-wing fantasies.

She has a nice body, but her face...

I disagree with the previous poster, I feel I should note.  Isabella is very pretty.

Don't you just love how some people are already dead set in their opinion of the game and its characters, weeks and months before the game actually gets released?

I'm 99% sure that Merrill won't be a f/f option, and that's terrible, because Isabella is such a stereotypical "promiscuous pinup girl with giant knockers" and really is just not attractive. She looks like she should be working at Hooters.

It feels like BioWare is pandering to the lowest common denominator of "hurr guys like chicks with big boobies" which is a shame because the Mass Effect team did not do that. Jack has very small breasts, and is by far the most attractive girl in the series.

Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that.  No real point other than opinion varies.

I agree with this, that would just be plain weird. "You are normally straight but since you share body with a bi/******-sexual spirit you are now bi-sexual yourself" that's just silly imo. <_<

Jolly good. If Anders is the bi LI then he'll probably be my first romance just for the lulz. I should imagine that once you get close to him, he's still the same lovable scamp that he was in DA:A. Even under the possession of a fiery demon of Vengeance.

A mystery to me too...

(besides, we are speaking of a very small group of very peculiar people anyway :) actually I wouldn't mind, for example, that people around you, at least the important NPCs, would have different reactions depending on which you are having a romance with)
I agree, though, with the last phrase, but to a certain extent this is applied in DAO in the sense that your actions and dialogues change the appreciation meter of the companion. (yes yes, I know...)

Gods, you and me both.  WHEN WILL I GET TO ROMANCE KAIDEN?   That whole "predefined" thing is just crap, when I can customize EVERYTHING ELSE about Shepherd.  To me it really sounded like Priestly has a thing going on in his head about that.

But that's an old can of worms; never mind.

I don't want to sound greedy, but why there must be four heterosexual and only two homosexual options? Couldn't they be all four opened to everyone?

Because that would be silly. If you take an average random group of people, one or two might be interested in the same sex, but most will probably not. Really half of the LI's being same-sex options is already being pretty generous if you think about it, no?

I don't understand this reasoning... opening all four to either sex relationship does not subtract anything to straight LIs, so I don't see why people should be bothered.

True, it wouldn't bother me that much, it's just that sexuality is part of a character, and making every character bisexual would just seem like fan-service to me. Unless you make a fantasy world where sexuality is completely fluid, I just wouldn't buy four of your party members just happening to be into both sexes. But maybe that's just me. :]

As a bisexual man, Zevran was rather insulting, having the only bisexual man being sexually deviant, and yes I played a playthrough as male warden who made it clear we were only friends and he pursued to hit on me, if that was just a bug on my disc I would be shocked.
And to compare someone who openly hits on both sexes to one that has only shown interest in females is rather dumb

Do you make comments about both sexes, all the time?  I don't.  Most people don't realize I'm bisexual until they've known me for a while, because I'm married to a woman and have a child.  But I also have ex-boyfriends, and my wife and I have a standing agreement that either of us can "bag" Nathan Fillion if we ever get him drunk enough (which of course will never happen, it's a joke!).

Most of the time, in public, I don't comment about men, because it makes a lot of folks uncomfortable, and I don't see the point in being a walking stereotype.  Among friends, I'm more open.

I've noticed that with most bisexual men I know. Usually they've mentioned being bisexual once or twice, but will pretty much only comment on women, especially in public.
