Ironically, love for Bethany really is the only part of all that madness that WAS on-topic. Too bad that PC Mag (I think?) review said she was the only bummer of a character. Maybe I can just re-map her face to Isabela and let her die off.

She maybe more interesting if you go down a rivalry path. Its possible the fact she's your "friend" and is far more agreeable is what the review thought of as boring.

I'm glad the writer liked the game but he came off as immature (crowing about being able to bone the companions) and as someone who hadn't played many RPGs. I'll reserve my judgment on Bethany until the demo because it's possible he just isn't able to appreciate a more subtle character.

PC Magazine had a review of Dragon Age II where the reviewer talked about Bethany being a very boring character.

My opinion of the game informer article (which was not a review, so that must be a different article you are referring to) was that the guy played a mage, and had carver, so he got to know Carver. He just didn't really have any opinion on Bethany cause she wasn't around.

Yeah, that's a good point. I could totally see that. 

I wonder if some characters CAN'T be romanced in a rivalry, or ONLY in a rivalry. It doesn't seem like all four would have options for both.

I was under the impression that all romances down both paths are viable, but others will be much more in depth than others depending on the path you choose.

skilled seeker - it's people like you that fuel the Fox paranoia about the effect of these games on the immature. This game is an adventure game not a sex game, the romances are added to enhance game play not to cater to people that have real life issues and need digital media to get their jollies.
