I've gotta say, if Zev existed irl, I'd be all over him like that rash Oghren got in Awakening. Say what you will about him being promiscuous or not ... his sensuality is all kinds of hot.

hey thanks for liking it lol. It's somewhat relevant since there was a discussion on gay sex in DA:O, but still very random nonetheless.

Then, there is always fanfiction.  I think the copious amounts of fanfiction I'll be reading/writing after my first DA2 run is one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to!!

This is one of the silliest and most annoying arguments I've ever heard in regards to romances in Bioware games. Just because people express interest in LIs or disappointment that other characters aren't LIs doesn't mean they are looking for a dating sim. <_<

Not that you meant anything malicious by it, I just despise that argument regardless of whenever or whoever brings it up.

You have to understand them. When I was a teenager and played Treasures of the Savage Frontier or something which presented the first romance ever in computer game with a "dream woman" it was darn cool thing! No way I would had been able to even think about platonic friendship with her.

It's incredibly cool of you to admit to those random things even if they're partly randm, and shows all sorts of cool things, like lack of prejudice and being comfortable with yourself. Also, always awesome to know that not all the straight dudes in Bioware's core straight-dude demographics hated Zevran (who also happens to be my favorite of the DAO characters. not saying I'd go straight for him IRL, but my character certainly did )

You're right, I didn't mean anything malicious by it, and I don't think anyone actually wants to buy a dating sim rather than play a Bioware game.  But in Mass Effect 2, you could romance a total of... what, potentially eight, nine different characters to varying degrees?  As a result most of the relationships felt a bit shallow, like there could have been more depth there had the developers provided fewer romance options but more complexity within those options.

Fewer is better sometimes.

My char went OOC lol. I reloaded after the experiment. Nothing never happened. Just not my thing.

...and seriously, again, what the foo? We get a sexy redhead that also is a caring person willing to protect the weaker ones...but can't romance her? I get a feeling that the people thinking of romances are...m/m affiliated.

Because there's nothing at all sexy about a buxom pirate wench with knives exploding from her cleavage, or a doe-eyed elven lass capable of raining the forces of nature down upon her enemies. Nothing at all.

You're welcome.  I do what I can.

Additionally, this thread should NOT be about moaning and groaning because your chosen companion wasn't written or developed as a love interest.  It should be about the love interest themselves, their backstories, speculation on how the relationship will develop throughout the game; things of that nature. I'm glad there are few love interests in DA2, because it means these relationships will likely have more time and energy put into them than the ME2 relationships, which were many but rushed.

I liked Zevran too, and I can see the charms he uses to get his sexual appetite satisfied for oh..... say 10 minutes at best.

and yea I don't care about admitting it. I've learned to not give a **** what people think about me. If people think I'm gay for saying if he was real, I might end up in bed with him, meh I don't care. I'm straight. no opinion of some other person will change who I am.

fenris story is 8/10... it was an interesting read, but doesn't reveal too much about Fenris' personality. It just reiterated in more detail what we already knew...



Anders story 11/10...holy crap! that was just so damn badass. I really can't wait to see how much of a massivly influencial character he will be in the dragon age saga.



Isabella story 9/10... it was good...isabella is already shaping up to be a very likable badass, sexually aware swashbuckler. Im intrigued to find out what it is she lost at the shipwreck.



Merill gets 9.5/10. Though I'm not particularly attracted to her character, the ending suprised the hell out of me. I can't wait to find out how merril deals with this demon situation.

Platonic relationships with the characters are my favourite, I could take or leave romance scenes. However, as far as I've seen (mainly with DAO and ME1), the romance characters usually get stronger interactions and links to stuff than the non-LI. So I usually get more excited about LI and hope my prefered characters will be one.

Thank god someone else said it. The whole 'dating sim' thing annoys me no end.

"I wish X's romance was better" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"
"I really loved it when my warden and X got together" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"
"I wish the sex scenes weren't so awkward" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"
"I wish all genders and orientations were better represented" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"
"Wasn't it lovely when Alistair gave me the rose?" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"
"I wish X was an LI because they sound/look awesome" ... "OMG just go play a dating sim!"

I might start answering any and all comments about combat in Dragon Age with "OMG just go play a shooter!", because seriously, that would make about as much sense as the dating sim bull.

@ReallyRue: Shale's acerbic wit made DAO for me and kept me from ever siding with Branka against Caridin in my play-throughs of the game. For DA2 I'd hoped for Varric as a LI, but since he's already entrenched in the role of storyteller and plot weaver, I understand why that's not an option.



@EtherealWriter: I definitely get an Anders+Justice/Vengeance vibe from that song, but now I'm depressed. Thanks. >:T
