There better be an All is Lost ending or I'll be pissed. There is no sense of accomplishment if everyone and their pet donkey can save the galaxy. I hope the All is Lost ending won't be as difficult to get as the Epic Fail ending of ME2.

Given that they put one into Arrival, it's pretty clear one will appear in ME3 proper.

What I'd like is a "best" ending you can only get by having imported with the proper choices from ME2... like making all the crew persuade checks.

I hope there is some price to pay even in the best ending, like in ME1 saving the council required sacrificing a great deal of the alliance fleet.

That sounded kind of spoilerish you know. Thanks a lot.

I would like to see an ending just complete genocide of every species in the milky way as a last resort for shepard.

Just make this ending occur as a non-standard Gameover screen.

If you die on certain mission critical stages, you get longer and longer cinematics detailing the futility of everything. These can be skipped after watching once, or maybe not even play again, but this way you get a kickass "all is lost" ending AND no one feels like they "lose.

An evil "Shepard sides with Reapers" ending is a bit different though. That's based on your choices, and should definitely be included.

Hmm....Shepard sides with Reapers. Interesting idea for an ending. Shepard getting indoctrinated is a bit of a scary thought. With ol' Shep leading the charge into the galaxy proper would make for a REALLY bad ending where all is truly lost. Maybe that's why TIM has sent his Cerberus cronies after Shepard. though I would imagine it to be a little more more to it than that.

I'd love to have these as various different
endings. One ending with a voiceover from either Shepard or another major
character saying something along the lines of "The cycle could not be
broken. We tried, and we were destroyed just as all the species before us were. Now we become those that came before, and we hope that the species' to come san finally break the cycle." where we lose and die.

Aaand then another ending where we lose, give up, and become reaper-ified. That ending would have Shepard's voice, all deep and electronic, saying things that Sovereign and Harbinger said.

X.

Ah, the number of possible "All is Lost!", endings is great indeed. I'm finally excited to see what Bioware is cooking up since they have said that ME3 will have multiple endings.

Conrad

Conrad is given Reaper Modifications, and he kills Shepard in one hit. If you get him killed in the first game, the Reapers lack their ultimate anti-Shepard, and so cannot hope to defeat you.

Alternatively: The Big Stupid Jellyfish.

An "all is lost" ending where right after Harbinger dies of a heart attack from ODing on his trash talking would be the best ending ever.

This would be GREAT. If you win, you would actually feel like you saved the universe, not the game gave you some train tracks with a few different directions and said go for it.

I also support the total loss ending. I'd like two endings. One, Shepard and the survivors on the Normandy are the last living things in the galaxy if the Reapers win. They jump into a mass relay hoping to begin the painful rebuilding and repopulation of the galaxy.
Or Two: Shepard beats the Reapers, but too late and the Earth is destroyed. Shepard walks down the deserted and destroyed street of a major city in Earth. Before he/she leaves, Shepard picks up a small token, a reminder of the Earth lost (like a book, or something unique to humans)

I could totally see that as an ending for Mass Effect: the anime.  Mass Effect the Bioware video game series?  No chance.

Whoa. More people support the idea than I was expecting. Maybe I should start a support group? Hmm...... Still, hope Bioware cooks something up similar to that. B)

I imagine some endings, like heroic Shep's death to save the galaxy or Shepard running away with some LI/friend after the victory of the reapers. I wouldn't mind those endings, I want to explore them all :D

I guess you could argue that the most logical ending points to the Reapers continuing their cycle. All Shepard has done to this point is slow their return by a few years.

I hope they have the chances of endings based on a normal curve distribution.
As such, 68% of us should get the same kind of ending but depending on decisions (2 of these based on the paragade system), a much smaller % of us should get a "better" or "worse ending" and even a more different ending for those that went the extra mile to get the"certain" ending.

The more variety the better!

I generally don't play games to.... lose. It happens but I go back to my previous save and try again. I don't see this game being any different.

Reapers has collected technologies for millions of years.
Nobody believes in the existence of Reapers.
Fleet of the Citadel and Destiny Ascension could not resist against one Reaper.
Assault of the Reapers would be an unexpected and ruthless.

If the enemy is superior technically and tactically then the surprise attack is guaranteed will bring him victory.
Against such an enemy there is only one tactic - rapid retreat and strengthen defense.
Need to defend the Citadel, our advantage is that the Reapers do not control the relay.
When the Reapers will be dispersed, need to quickly destroy part of they forces.
It is a tactic the defensive warfare.

I hope that victory over the Reapers will not be in the fact that we will find a powerful guns.
Victory - not just the powerful guns and a lot of allies.
Victory - is primarily a spiritual strength and strategic decisions.

"All is Lost" the most logical and likely final, because forces are not equal, when the Reapers will attack would be even smaller.
All is lost, no escape... and only a mirracle can save.

Exactly my thoughts Dem_B. Considering the likely consequences for some past actions it makes it all the more interesting. IF good 'ol Bioware doesn't do it as a full blown ending then I kind of see it being used as a Game Over/Critical Mission Failure screen. Kind of hoping for the former and not the latter though. :P

Word is that it has been confirmed that you CAN lose the fight for Earth! *excited* Heh. Awesome that the idea was not only considered but WILL happen. *contended sigh* My day is complete. :)

There better be one where, even though you won't be able to defeat the Reapers, you start to put together a plan that will end the cycle and let the next civilisation survive.

Sort of what the Protheans did but with more success.
