I am trying to run Dragon Age fullscreen at 1920x1200 on my 24 inch screen (I also have a secondary 17 inch to the side), and both subtitles and dialogue options are covered in two horizontal black bars that expand the entire screen at the top and bottom. When I changed to windowed-mode, I could see both the subtitles and my chat options, but some of the options at the bottom get cut off. Reverting back to fullscreen does not fix problem. I also tried 1920x1080 to no avail.
I thought it might have had something to do when I backed up and restored my steam games when I switched OS to win7 64, but then I deleted the game and redownloaded it and the problem is still there.
Game bought through steam. US version. Patches are up to date.

Hmmm... I'd say the first thing to check would be your Nvidia drivers... the latest are 266.58, which came out just a few weeks ago. I also notice you're running SLI... do you run both monitors while playing the game?
Beyond that, my next guess would be that this is an aspect ratio issue of some kind. I'll fiddle with my setup and report back.

I think the important question is... what is the native resolution for your monitor (the main one upon which you play the game)? You can find out by going into the Nvidia control panel and seeing what's listed as "native" under the resolution options.

Hi, thanks for replying. Native is 1920x1200. The secondary is always on. I do have the latest drivers.

Silly suggestion: check in the DA configuration to see if the correct options are chosen. (You never know...)

Agreed. And try turning off the second monitor. Also try playing the game at the same res your desktop is set at, or lower.

I tried disabling my secondary monitor, and it works. I don't think this as a solution though, because the workaround is a big pain. Every other game I play doesn't glitch like this on my setup.

I suspect that DA doesn't like multi-monitor set-ups. I think I remember reading that some PC users couldn't get their...Eyefinity set-ups to work either. Not sure if a solution to that was ever mentioned, though apparently it had been patched (always sceptical about patches myself though).

I don't think the game has a bias to having a second monitor running, but the game does not appear to have any built-in means to span multiple monitors. That said, I too have a second monitor on my PC, and it will continue to display the desktop while running the game. However, I don't see the point of it, and it just hogs resources... which is probably the issue here.
DA:O, as has been said countless times here, is a CPU hog. A lot of graphics processing appears to be done on the CPU... including PhysX, even if you have an Nvidia GPU. So I suspect in Jewslox's case, it's either causing an error because system resources are tied up into that second monitor, or because he's trying to span the image across two monitors and DA doesn't like that.
Finally, yes, it's a pain to go into the Nvidia control panel and disable the second monitor all the time... but that's what I do every time I play. Unfortunately, the latest Nvidia software no longer has the option to save and quick-load multiple monitor profiles... and from what I've read, that feature is not coming back.
