i think there should be a dlc like lair of the shadow broker for ME2 were if you do it your actions go over to the sequal

-If you insist on frequent 30 minute to an hour DLC, use it to include some class specializations, that can not only introduced for the 45 minute DLC, but then give folks a reason to play a complete game with new toys to play with. That would extend the games interest far longer than a DLC that takes half as long to purchase, download and install, as it does to play.
-In between purchased DLC, release little mini packs that add magical items to the game for free. If your goal is to keep the game relevant, I'd replay a game with more magic items to find. That would interest me more than the buy a very short DLC, to get 2 magical swords thing.
-DLC should not just add a 45 minute mini adventure. It should add new specs and ways to enjoy going through the game again. They should expand the core gameplay as well as continuing it. Not be little pocket dimensions totally divorced from the base game.
-last on my list is add companions, but it is only last because now that everything is fully voiced, that is no small matter to do. Might belong it a full paid boxed expansion that continues the game, not just mixed it with the original 10 years span.

I think developers really underestimate the value of additional customization features. There should be frequent weapons and armor options, as well as quests that add new skills to recieve, even if they're just passive in nature.
Speaking of Gryphons though, how neat would DLC be that has you ressurect and ride a gryphon through the air, it could be something like the car chase in LOTS for ME2.
