I was able to do this as instructed with my desktop pc and windows xp. However I'm having problems with Vista on my lap top. My config file is set up the way I want. I right click on the Backup batch file and 'run as administrator' it give me a message that it cannot find the config file and produces no backup when I type 'Backup'
I noticed a paragraph at the bottom of the toolset wiki page concerning these batch files that reads as follows. Should I be following the instructions below? (Is there any on going problem with making the directory change as instructed below?)
Quick Backup & Restore
Before doing this tutorial I am going to assume you installed the toolset and sql server at the default settings.
Tutorial
1. create a folder called "Backups" in your C Drive.
2. navigate to the folder and make note of the files there.
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\tools\\DatabaseUtilities\\Backup_Restore
3. go to start --> programs --> accessories --> and "right
click" on "command prompt" then choose "Run as administrator"
4. A new window will come up and you'll notice in the top left it
will say administrator and you should be at the windows\\system32
directory
5. change directory to the backup_restore folder above.
6. run the backup.bat file and then type Backup to confirm ....
This will backup your entire DA database to the backups folder. The
file was around 783mb for me.
Backing up database with Backup batch file...

You'll have to set the actual command prompt/dos box to run with elevated privileges (not the batch file), which is what the instructions specify.

As in the instructions that I quoted at the end of my initial post?

Yes. It says to run the command prompt as an administrator. Do that then run the batch file from there. Just tested it on Win 7 x64 and it worked fine.

I had no question about running the command as the administrator but more so changing the directory. It's been so long that I have fiddled with anything dos like, do I still use this kind of syntax?
cd C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\tools\\DatabaseUtilities\\Backup_Restore
(and the fact that this forum software to this day inserts extra back slashes is a travesty)
cd C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\tools\\DatabaseUtilities\\Backup_Restore
(and the fact that this forum software to this day inserts extra back slashes is a travesty)

Yeah, that's fine. Still uses all the old DOS syntax.
