EDIT - no, be creative, positive...
not destructive and negative.

So let's try this for "not so good" (a matter of opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own)

---

from wikipedia

The Guild was inspired and written by Felicia Day, an avid gamer, in between acting roles in several American television shows and movies. After two years of video game addiction, Day decided to make something productive from her experiences and wrote the series as a sitcom television pilot. The series was purposely kept generic to avoid copyright problems and to appeal to a wider audience of massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) fans. Day also hoped to show that the stereotypical man living in his parents' basement is not the only kind of gamer. Believing the niche setting wouldn't appeal to television marketing wonks, she decided to produce the series online with Jane Selle Morgan and Kim Evey. Day already knew Sandeep Parikh and Jeff Lewis from Empty Stage, a Los Angeles-based comedy theatre, and their roles were written for them. The rest of the cast was filled through auditions. After filming the first three episodes in two and a half days, they ran out of money. After donations were invited through PayPal, the fourth and fifth episodes were almost solely financed by donations

...

The Guild currently has over 45 million upload views on YouTube as of August 2010. The series has won several awards since its launch, and in February 2009, Rolling Stone named it one of "The Net's Best Serial Shows". The Guild has inspired many fan efforts, including the tribute song I Wanna Be In Your Guild.

Award Won
  • 2007 YouTube Video Award – Best Series
  • 2008 South by Southwest Greenlight Award – Best Original Production
  • 2008 Yahoo! Video Award – Best Series
  • 2009 Streamy Awards – Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble Cast in a Web Series, and Best Female Actor in a Comedy Web Series (Felicia Day)
  • 2010 Streamy Awards – Best Directing for a Comedy Web Series (Sean Becker) and Best Female Actor in a Comedy Web Series (Felicia Day)

---

So, again, opinions may vary and everyone is welcome to their own...

but this isn't just picking some random fan or unknown, untalented person.

You may not like her, what she does, etc., but she's successful and sincere about what she works on.  The former is admirable, the latter is rare.

Ok, I'm done defending her now.

I know, right?! I shivered...

She was great in Dr. Horrible and on Dollhouse and Buffy and all... I couldn't get into The Guild at first, but then after 6 months I gave it another chance and ended up liking it, once I accepted that the characters are supposed to be extreme nerds and not depictions of the average nerd. It's especially fun when Wil Wheaton pops in (Sheldon's nemesis!) And she was also great in Fallout 3 (oops) Fallout: New Vegas. That woman is a redhead with mad geek cred. I love her.

And I love her outfit; it looks very similar in style to what I think of as DA's style. The layering and texture.

This is cool.

[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie][smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie][smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/w00t.png[/smilie] OMFG!!!! Even if this somehow sucks, I'll still luuurrve it, 'cuz it has Felicia Day [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/love.png[/smilie]!

Also: Tallis for LI in DA3!!

*grins* "Even if it sucks, it'll be good." (Quote about Star Wars when someone was interviewed while awaiting one of the new trilogy movies outside the theater.) I totally agree. She's awesome. And if the character is cool enough, and doesn't die a horrible death at the end of the series or something, then who knows? Maybe they would work something out for DA3. It's not exactly probable, but not outside the realm of possibility, I would think.

I love her so much for loving DA. I do wonder whether she loves Varric's chest hair... I'll never forget Mike's quote about not being able to tell if she was horrified or delighted.

EDIT: Okay, after reading her gamer profile, I just... I just... oh my god... :crying: I LOVE YOU FELICIA DAY!  You are like my soul sister.

What? Really? Wow!
Okay, I don't do this very often, but.... SQUEE!
Felicia Day is wonderful and I'm certain this will be, too. I can honestly say that this is the first bit of Dragon Age news I've found exciting and entirely good in a long time.

@Wynne

She was in Fallout 3? I thought it was New Vegas. You know, Veronica Santangelo and stuff.

I don't know about Fallout 3, but she was definitely in New Vegas.

This reminds me of the fake Legend of Zelda movie trailer. ;)

The expression on her face is like , but the ears are terribly fake :pinched:

I don't quite know what to say to that. I mean, they pretty much have to be, right?

"In the Tolkienesque sword-and-sorcery adventure game, several races join forces to combat a scourge called the Darkspawn (think of them as cousins to the orcs in The Lord of the Rings)."

Good luck with that, Felicia.

I find it hilarious how many people are already counting on this to fail horribly and are bracing themselves for the pain it will undoubtedly cause them like they will be forced to watch it.

I'm cautious of Dragon Age when being done by someone not Bioware, as I absolutely hated the comic book. But she's popular with gamers, and there must be a reason for it.

It's a physically attractive female with interests in videogames.

I -really- wonder why she's popular with gamers.

With someone else, I'd despair. But Felicia Day seems to really care about her games, so hopefully that will carry over and make this good.

I've never seen Felicia Day act serious, though. She's always had a goofy comical side in the stuff I've seen, so I have trouble seeing her as a determined elven assassin. Then again, I haven't seen much of Dollhouse and I can't recall what she did in Buffy, so I could very well be wrong.

Well, at least we'll have a catchy song about love for the poor homeless elves in the alienage.

You know, one of the top skillls of the rogues is their sarcastic and non-chanting style. Just look at Zevran and Isabella , sure you can call them determined but they have very funny sides and it fits with their class. So I think Felicia Day's personality will fit with the character ( although I don't know more than what written in the article :P )

Determined not always means being grumpy and grimly serious like Batman

I'll watch it. I don't really have high expectations though... Low-budget fantasy is usually pretty embarrassing.

Dragon age: Redemption...I hope she doesn't end up like John Marston.

I'm interested to see how these episodes will come up and see different classes and places.
