Hmm well, we don't know enough about them yet...but from what we do know I'd say Anders because no way an abomination can be let be....actually it seems as though Anders is trying really hard to control himself and not let vengeance take over....I wonder if what Wynne said about how maybe there's a way for a mage to "unabominate" his/herself....if Anders is conscious even at times, about who he really is then he is not an abomination and Hawke might play a part in uncorrupting Vengeance--->Justice.

Merrill seem the least interesting to me. Followed by the elf DUDE.
The other way around I hope Anders and Aveline turns out interesting. Anders look promising and the developers seem proud of Aveline.
Rereading this perhaps I'm racists to elfs? :-) It's just that I don't see how the elf story is relevant to Kirwall and the elf dud is way to much goth to me.
Unfortunately I feel isabella is also a little one dimensional so I might have a celibate mage this time :-)

Based solely on what we know right now, Isabela. I loathe female pirates so much. Way too Mary-Sue.

I suggest looking up what a Mary-Sue is before making a claim like that. They've said that there's alot more to Isabela than just sassy pirate-girl.Autodoll wrote...

Either way, Merrill would be my choice as of now. Nothing really interesting about her so far, but I hope her personality will change my mind.

Sandal. I'd sacrifice Sandal.
Hawke: Sandal come over here buddy! *Hawke grins at Anders who is in on the plot.* Sandal, you see em darkspawn over there, can you run to them?
Sandal: Enchantment! Ha ha ha ha! *Sandals run to the darkspawn which allows Hawke and his team to escape*
****
Later on some random road:
Hawke: Ya know Anders...I sort of feel sorry for that San... *a twig snaps nearby and Hawke draws his sword* Who's there! Show yourself foul fiend or taste my wrath!
*Sandal slowly comes stumbling out of some bushes.*
Hawke:
Sandal: ENCHANTMENT!
****
300 years later.
Museum guy of Kirkwall: And these statues were said to have been made from real people...could you believe that!? Ha ha ha...ahem, moving on to our next artifact..

Oh, sorry. I was referring to the idea of female pirates in general. I am perfectly willing and looking forward to learning more about Isabela, but as I usually play as a dual-weilding rogue myself, tactically there is not much of a reason for me to have her. Sorry about that.

well the only character from the party that is confirmed to survive is varric, so not him, plus i like him from what i've seen.
Isabela will survive in my canonverse, and be my mage hawkes romance, Anders worries me, as he seems a bit extreme but im siding with the mages if possible first, fenris most likely will die in my playthrough, Bethany is definetly dead as i am a mage, carver will live and most likely be my first rival, sebastian is still an unknown variable to me, aveline will survive unless my decision to help the mages leads to her betraying me, and i don't see any reason to kill Merrill off in my story so far.

Varric if I could...mainly because of the chest hair (yeah...I went there...), but sadly he doesn't so I'll say Isabella. Not a fan of her in DOA, and probably won't love her like I will the other players. I'm pretty much in love with all the guys (minus Varric), but chances are it will be a woman....

Anders.... all that effort with Justice wasted....

Judging by initial views/vids, I'm leaning more towards Merril than the others. I've never really liked the type, as she strikes me as something quite like Leiliana, and while she had her moments, and I liked her, I just didn't like her as much as the others.
So, given the choice, and I had to choose, I'd probably pick Merril.

Aveline or Anders
Aveline because, well... she seems like the kind of person that would be ok with it. Her husband's dead and she has a strong sense of duty.
Anders because he is either, depending on your Awakening epilogue, an undead abomination who is an afront to all things natural or he's possesed by a spirit of VENGENCE(and that **** never ends well)

I wouldn't kill any of them off even if I loathed one immensely unless I absolutely had to (and I suppose depending on the Hawke I am playing). I don't know enough about any of the characters to single one out to sacrifice.
But as everyone else is free to make condemnations based on looks alone...probably Fenris, for looking far too much like a necromancer from Guild Wars and far too emo for me to take seriously.

Hmm...I wonder how that would go down.
Hawke: Alright I just filled up my companion roster so now it's tim....oh wait, someone has to die...Ok everyone line up! Lets see who to kill, who to kill... Sebastian your u-no wait!...say I'm Sebastian Vael, you killed my father prepare to die.
Seb: Um..."I'm Sebastian Vael you killed my father prepare to die"
Hawke: Ok nvm you can live. Now back to who should I kill?

Varric. Not because I dislike him, but because I would like him to narrate his own death.

Anders, the psychopathic, lunatic cannibal, in fact I hope we won't have to recruit him at all and can instead elect to kill him to obtain his map.
