If i start a new character inAwakening I never had to worry about gil. In DA Origins.. depends if i sell all my loot and i do before the final show down.
Curious how easy coin will be in the up coming DA2:blink:
Think coin will be easy to get like it was inDA Awakening?

I never had a problem getting money in DA:O cause i loot and sell everything i dont need. I never used the cheats for getting more gold through item dupe either, and i could end DA:O with well over 150 gold if not more.
I think gold will be easy to make in DA2, through looting and questing.

My gil was always in short supply but that's probably because I was playing DA and not Final Fantasy.
Seriously though, I hope there are more efficient ways to earn gold in DA2. If nothing else make better equipment available through questing and dungeons rather than stores

Thing is, in Awakening gathering gold was more tied to the game mechanics than in Origins.
*spoilers abound for awakening people*
In awakening, gold wasnt just used to buy armor or weaponry, it was also used to upgrade your keep. Gold was easier to gather to allow you to upgrade the keep, as well as do your normal shopping. On a personal note, I dont think it translated very well.

I feel better when i gather materials for awesome armor or weapons. I dont mind the stores but not when i have to rely on them constantly for buying armor and weapons. i use all my money on herbs mixes and such when i go into a store.

I'm sure there are plenty of ways to earn a lot of gold, but they are probably morally dubious.
If you want a lot of gold, be prepared to become rivals with your morally uptight companions.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER
Considering that the amount of gold needed for the expedition is 50 pieces, I think that gold will be hard to come by in the beginning.

As long as DA2 and all future BioWare games have the 'unlimited' earning potential...I'll be fine.

Given that money eventually becomes very easy to obtain at some point in a good 90% of games that involve money, my guess is yes.

I prefer gathering items/gold to get stuff made custom for said character. Finding some ancient sword lost in some random place that somehow isn't old and ****ty at the point of you finding it hasn't ever appealed to me. Great some dead guys sword, wooo. That said 'some' weapons you find with crazy pasts can be interesting. Finding armor though has always been something I have issue getting behind. I don't give a damn how amazing its history is, it was made for someone else. The idea it just magically fits whoever finds its kinda awkward.
I really hope the 'legendary Hawke' armor look is something we get personally crafted. And since all armor we pick up is basically for Hawke alone, its far more easy to justify it being made 'for' Hawke only.
But this is a topic about gold its self, I dunno. I hope its kind of like DAO though I think that had a good balance. I always barely had enough for what I wanted (sold all the crap I never used) but It never felt like I had an abundance of gold just sitting around till the late, late end game when I already had everything I wanted. I couldn't just go on a shopping splurge and buy a buncha 100+ g items. Save up, buy one, start over - it had a good pace to it.

it's not a concidence that Miss Hawke is so well endowed. During the beginning of the game, money will be so scarce that she'll have to work as a stripper.
A decent Male Hawke, being in disadvantage, will have to politely ask for money to support his lifestyle, like that young noble from Jade Empire.

I don't think the Champion of Kirkwall is going to be a poor person.

The problem with DA:O wasn't exactly that gold was hard to get, it was that loot was worthless, both from a utility standpoint and an economic one. Coupled with the fact that all the best equipment was purchased from vendors, and that's where problems came up.

Most likely like DA:O or worse given your mainly buying stuff for you only. Kinda like ME Versus ME:2 in that reguard. In ME I had literally a Couple Million credits sitting around. In ME;2 it was more like "Crap where can I get more money for this upgrade". So given the likeness between the two I suspect we may be on the short end in DA:2. I'm hoping not however.

Not quite just for you. I think you can still buy your party weapons they are able to use (i.e daggers for Isabella) and jewlery.KenKenpachi wrote...
