Being a mage is probaly genetic so if you sterilize them, then in a few generations there numbers will be greatly reduced.

Well magic affinity can be inherited as the family of the Hawkes proves, but many mages are born from normal partents. So there is no way, and also it is a proof that it is natural as any other talent.

You don't get all genetic traits directly from your parents,

I have blonde hair for example, and neithier of my parents do nor do my grandparents. But my uncle does and so does my great grandmother.

I still say Sterilization is the best way to control population over the mages,
do we really need 700 killing machines, Mages can be good but you only need a small number to prove effective.

We could also sterilize all non-mages. That way everyone would end up a mage eventually.

No you must not. Every human has the ability to kill others, thats no reason to incarcerate all humans.

Not all humans have the equal capability to kill.
mage DOES NOT equal regular human. So any such comparisons are pointless.

There is a reason why light weapons are allowed, but the heavier the weapons get, the stricter they are controlled. There is also a reason why all nukes are in bunkers with a dozen fail-safes and security checks.

The whole mage situation reminds of diclonii/diclonius situation from Elfen Lied manga/anime.

The morale: you better be nice to the monster, otherwise it'll reduce you to small squishy pieces. That applies to mages as well. Just feed them 6 times a day and greet with a bow and they'll be as happy as pigs rolling in mud.

The nation of Rivain, the Dalish clans, and the Chasind tribes don't agree.

Well, there are always idiots out there. Some people do drugs and incredibly dangerous things for kicks, and live in regret later once they impale their privates on that sharp fence they just HAD to jump over.

Other people use reason. Too bad hte 3 groups mentioned above are not among them.

It's a prison that provides some educational opportunities and it's a place where you can be given a lobotomy or killed without having the power to contest the matter or have the First Enchanter even see the evidence in question to determine that there's any actual evidence in question.

Incorrect. You've got no proof you cannot contest it. Well, it depends on the evidence up to a point...

Not all humans have the equal capacity to kill, but all humans possess the capacity to inflict harm on others on a great scale. On another thread, IanPolaris cited real world examples of single individuals killing many innocent people. In Thedas, we have people who are being mistreated and oppressed, which I doubt is going to prevent future incidents when it's clearly been causing abominations and revolutions. Mages are people who possess power, and should be trained rather than oppressed.

Considering how Rivain has stood for centuries, as well as the Dalish clans and the Chasind tribes, I don't see how they're idiots for not being under a tyranny like the Chantry. As for dismissing them on basis of reason, I don't see how you can logically say that. The Chantry's actions look to be causing a war between Templars and Mages, which I don't see happening with the mage tolerant societies of Rivain, the Dalish, or the Chasind. Considering how bad things can go, it looks like the Chantry are the idiots who were too power-hungry to see how their inhumane treatment of mages is going to cause a potential war throughout Thedas.

Irving openly admits he never saw the evidence in question and Jowan was never even informed before the Rite was signed or after - he learned about it from Lily. So how was he going to be able to contest it if he was never going to be privy to the Rite of Tranquility? Clearly he couldn't because they had no intention of even telling him until it was too late. Irving admits as much when he says he's sorry, because the Rite will happen.

And they would be killed by either other mages, warriors, rogues, or any combination of classes mentioned.

I asked BioWare to give me the chance to kill all the mages. They did just that. I wanted to thank them.

Good thing that you weren't born a mage, eh? Would you have set yourself on fire like the Saarebas in Shepherding Wolves because you're so (potentially) dangerous?

While I don't believe in "guilty by association" with mages, it's nice to know that those who do got to slaughter them like pigs. I was able to bring myself to side with the templars just once out of 5-6 playthroughs, and needless to say, I won't be importing that one to DA3.

And thanksfully, I didn't had to read the whole thread. Only the first post and the last page. Might as well start a new thread or use Constructive Criticism instead of bringing back an old thread. You know necroposting is not recommended and you still did it. This will be my last post on this thread.

There are no doctors in Thedas. Kill the mages and you kill the only people who can treat illness or injury.

Mages also make the best exorcists, like Avernus repairing the veil at Soldier's Peak.

Are you trying to kill all mages or just the blood mages?
