If DA2's plan was to make us sympathetic to mages, it surely failed in that regard. Pretty much every mage you meet is maleficar, crazy, possessed or a combination of three. By the time you reach the end game, you are so pissed off by these clowns trying to kill you, it's really diffucult to feel sorry for them. Games rarely make me annoyed at something. But at the end of DA2, all I wanted to do was to explode all the spell casters into a shower of body bits with my 2 handed weapon.

DA2's plan was to make people side with the Templars, for obvious reasons almost nobody sided with the Templars in Origins, so they made the mages bat **** crazy stupid on purpose in DA2.  This isnt an opinion, the writers actually said that was their intention because they wanted the decision to be more grey rather then always take the mages side, and some admitted they went to far.

No! Mages shouldn't be destroyed! They should be controlled!

Think about how much humanity would benefit from this!

If they want to be out of the circle so bad then lets just send them to the deep roads and everyone that survives a week can be given "more" freedom.
