Oghren is pretty dang insecure (it's the reason he's so loud mouthed and rude), and I'd be willing to bet Varric isn't. But I dunno if being self assured is necessarly a "manly" trait as much as it is just a trait.

I'm gonna have to go with less than kate. Oghren wins the manliness award. But it was tough...

You know he's the narrator, right? The one telling the story of the past in the game's present? If you kill him it's like... instant time paradox game over. And then you don't get Bianca anyway.

On an aside, I'm glad to discover thread 3.0 I died a little on the inside when I read the list (checked it twice) and found Varric wasn't on it But, I rallied and raised my torch high, praying to the Maker, Stone and the Kirby for a DA3 romance:innocent: Until that time, I intend to chill here, soaking in the Varric love and waiting in blissful anticipation for the awesome relationship that we are sure to have with him and Bianca upon the release.

Crippling insecurity hidden behind layers of sarcasm, loudmouthing and rudeness is the hallmark of manliness, so I'll have to go with Oghren as well. Unless Varric's suave and roguish charisma hides his insecurities so deeper they're unreachable.

Here's a thought. Suppose DA3 was Hawke-centric, and they pulled the Mass Effect thing and decided to make Aveline and Varric romances for the next game. How do you think the writers would react? I'll bet Mary Kirby would be down with it. Lukas Kristjanson I can picture being displeased. Does that mean maybe Varric has a better chance than Aveline?

They have already hinted that the hypothetical Dragon Age 3 would not be Hawke centered, but maybe pick up from the results of Cass' investigation. Depending on how developed the character of Aveline is in DA 2, I can picture Lukas either displeased (as he believed he has said his piece about the character) or pleased (as he gets to revisit and expand on a character that was surprisingly well received by his coworkers); whereas Varric strikes me as the kind of character that never gets old. That said, I do not believe we'll se that many returning companions from DA 2 to a theoretical DA 3. I'd look more for background characters for this, which give more wiggle room to writers to attempt new things.

Since DA2 is supposed to conclude how and why Hawke became Champion, DA3 will pick up on events after that, maybe we'll get to choose between a dwarf or elf PC, so that would need 4 voiceover actors... XD Because Gaider has mentioned human-dwarf relations are kind of ew to him BUT he wouldn't mind dwarf-dwarf relations and IIRC showed some interest in doing so... So Varric and a cute bubbly FemDwarfPC? Yes.................... Do want.

EDIT: Also, they will know more fans would be open to a dwarf romance with the choice of dwarf PC. Plus, many fans would like the option to play a non-human and since DA2 has a voiced Human already, it may seem just fair enough to have either dwarf or elf voiced PCs in DA3. Again, since Cassandra's investigation has possibly only begun at the end of DA2... Oooh Varric would be a bit older but he's the suave LI :wub: Oh and then maybe we can speculate on American/Canadian VOs then ehehehehe DA2 is not even out yet but we're already talking about what role Varric could play in DA3 I would like Zach Hanks as MaleDwarfPC because he's so hawt. And maybe Natalia Cigliuti as FemDwarfPC (longshot since she's already Sigrun but hey... You never know, since Bastilla = FemShep). And in the case of elves I strangely won't mind Mark Meer (despite his strangeness as MShep) and for the FemElf, Cree Summer (Numbuh FIVE!)

Man... the more I think about it, the more I would love an Oghren/Varric team up. Love or hate Oghren, I think they would have fantastic chemistry. I also think they would get along pretty damn well.
