Hey all, love the new thread, and I'm beyond happy to see Aimo still producing lovely art, thank you for that, you add so much fun to everyone's anticipation for the game.

I know people are disappointed with the news (I am too, although I think Anders and Fenris both look great), but try and look on the bright side. You guys were so vocal about loving the character so early after his initial reveal and for so long that the devs were surprised and pleased. Hopefully this will translate into some flirty banter that otherwise would not have been included. I think at the very least, maybe like Garrus and Thane and Tali, this is what shows Bioware that it's okay to experiment with non-traditional LIs in their fantasy as well as sci-fi properties.

As for those concerned that all the options for us girls are brooding, angry and tragic, I'd caution you to wait and see. As someone mentioned earlier, Zevran sounded fairly dark on paper, and he was anything but in the game. Similarly I doubt they've entirely abandoned Anders' cute and fluffy side, or at the very least, the path to helping him certainly will involve LadyHawke assisting him to find his original light-hearted personality again. As for Fenris, with Balthier voicing him and Gaider writing him, I can't imagine he won't have a sardonic, fun personality. He might be mean, but I'm looking forward to that...like an elven Sten.

I still feel sorry for Bartrand, clearly the Tethras chest hair went into his face.

He shaves his face every morning, it just comes out like that by noon.

The hair barely made it there, otherwise he would have the largest beard ever. Someone proposed a connection between this and his love for belts.

Even though, as I'm sure many of you know, I hate this cutesy Varric nonsense, and this already begging for a romance in DA3 despite not really knowing squat (zing) about Varric besides superficial traits...

There is no way I can deny, that is an amazing amazing amazing OP.

PS- The devs allowed you to flirt with Oghren... I'm sure you can with Varric. And if he lives I would bet on a romance in DA3. Unless he follows in Sten's footsteps and proves to be quite diffrent than what people expected personality wise.

Double PS- I think I figured out why all this Varric fangirl love pisses me off. I've been a LONG time fan of fantasy dwarfs in all franchises. Due to the fact they're typically unattractive, they are often not popular and even mocked by fangirls as ugly little buggars. Of course, slap a pretty face on a dwarf and make him fairly attractive/suave and all of a sudden popularity follows. Doesn't matter we still know surprsingly little about the guy. Of course, this doesn't apply to all "fangirls", I know some loved Gorim for example... but it still applies to many.

These are all fine, fine men, but I'll have to admit Richard Armitage is quite a heart-stopper ;) I'm looking forward to how they'll incorporate his classic leading man looks with Thorin's.

And I was Team Gorim as a bro, because the moment he dashingly appeared with possible flirty dialogue at the start of my Lady Aeducan run, he had a brightly-coloured bilnking neon sign that said "TRAP" above his head. Dodged that bullet at Denerim, whew XD;;

Why, thank you! I already have TWO Bro-tastic comic ideas of Varric and Lady/Man!Hawke between this afternoon and now, so I can already assure that I'll come up with many, many more when the game is out. Just because he's not an LI doesn't mean he stops being inspiring...I have confidence in Mary's writing and sense of humour :)

Why would I be tearing my beard off? It's not that I dislike attractive dwarfs. Infact, thanks to Varric and possibly the Hobbit, dwarf popularity may start booming! More fantasy dwarfs in books/games/movies/ect = a happy me!

Plus if Thorin looks like this, and he prob will.

I don't think there will be loads of fangirls swarming over him.

Guy was no "trap" he was one of the most loyal and good hearted fellas in the game. Even when you lost all power he remined steadfest... costing him everything as well.

Only reason he didn't follow the Warden agian was thanks to a bum leg and a kid on the way.

I hope Varric is at least half the dwarf Gorim was.

*Is still slow boiling rage at the reveals*

This doesn't change a thing, you know that Bioware? I'm still having Aveline and Varric tagging along everywhere!

You can try as hard as you want, but you'll never silence Dwarfs!

Specially not this one!

Bioware just announced that you can only play DA II if you shave your chest hair.

There.

I tried to be as reasonable as I could in various fan threads, but I ended up as a petty, evil and whining sex maniac.

But the Varric thread tends to be a sanctuary.

*facepalm*

"TRAP" as in a HEARTBROKEN ROMANCE that many F!Aeducan players rage about after the reunion in Denerim. Gorim as a bro is one of the best Origin companions in the whole game; I'm not even sure how you jumped to the conclusion that I was belittling his worth. Mayhaps you should stop automatically assuming that fangirls are collectively shallow. And try to get a sense of humour while you're at it too if the female-centric fandom of dwarves rages you so much.

And FYI, that Thorin screenshot you plugged? HAWT.

For entirely different reasons, Gorim and Leske are the best origin companions in DA:O. And both are introduced with pillar leans. Because they're awesome like that.

I thought you meant "trap" as in dude was trying to get into the dwarf nobles pants for the $$$. Which is one hell of a fair assumption given the nature of dwarf politics and the rest of your statement. And it may even SEEM that way to someone who hadn't played the male dwarf noble.

And I don't assume all fangirls are shallow. But I do assume a good amount of the Varric one's are... as many jumped on the Varric fanboat as soon as you saw his face in that concept art... and considering how obessed some of you are over a character you know very little about minus the very basics.

Once people actually play the game and get to know Varric's personality and history in more depth, then I'll be cool with all this crazy fangirl obsession. Until then I won't be.

Also, she obviously meant trap as a girl who dress as a boy.

Actually, I'd say that Varric is the companion with the highest amount of information available.

Which, funny enough, actually did exist in DA:O.

Nah, thats Miss. Pirate.

We know the basics of Varric, what he looks like, what his job is, ect. But thats all very superficial stuff. We don't know what the guy is REALLY like. For example. How does he "deal" with the troubles his spy network digs out? Is he a rogue with a heart of gold or is he a greedy self absorbed SOB. Only time will tell.
