I had a pretty epic Varric moment earlier.

Lady Hawke rival-manced Anders and sided with the templars.  She spared Anders's life but he attacked them later on.  She was heartbroken at having to fight the man she loved but did it anyway.  Everyone's health was low, and Hawke charged at Anders to end it.  He froze her solid, prepared for a killing blow, and then Varric took him down with his triple shot.  Seriously epic timing.  His staff was raised, I could imagine Hawke closing her eyes waiting for death, and then suddenly arrows appear in Anders's chest.

I wish I'd recorded it or something.  It was epic timing and pretty tragic, since Varric and Anders were friends.  It may inspire me to write a one-shot fic.

Varric was probably the most likeable character of them all. Totally bummed out he was non-romanceable because I really think there was something there between him and Hawke, which simply went unsaid because of their comrades relationship.

Well, after completing two play-throughs of DA2, I'm firmly in the "OMG why isn't Varric a LI?!" camp. He's amazing. He's my only consistent party member, and he's entirely made of win (especially when in a party with Izzy).

Haven't finished the game yet, but so far Varric's Crowning Moment of Awesome for me is when you have him in the team during mom rescue mission, if you let the suspected murderer live and he's about to turn on you.

Him and the First Enchanted are my favourite characters in the game. (although that's a vague statement as I like quite a few)

Maybe in DA3 we can get race choices again and be able to romance Varric as a dwarf. That would be so cool!

I am utterly behind "Paragon of Manliness." I'm not even into chest hair generally, but on him...

Varric was far and away my favorite companion and I can't say how happy all his chit-chat with the other companions made me. He was the glue that bound them together in games of Wicked Grace and myth-making.

It's not even about his voice. His VA is awesome nonetheless. Have you actually used Varric from start till finish? The man is a god damn hero amongst men. Men learn to be Varric IRL.

Hell Bioware holds secret sauve meetings teaching guys to act like Varric. Seriously if you are a heterosexual male comfortable with your sexuality a bromance would happen. Sorry it's true. Facts are facts.

Yes, that was definitely a great moment (I wanted to high five him). I also like the times when you can get him to talk you out of tricky situations (he makes up great lies). And him making fun of the Orlesian noble woman (in the quest On the Loose in Act 3) was priceless. If you have Fenris, Bela, and Varric in your party, they have a funny/ interesting exchange about the name "Hanged Man" when you walk by in Lowtown (seems to trigger randomly). Lol I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I think Varric adds a lot (of awesome) to the game.

Pretty much any comment he had while in my party was great. He really made the game for me. I'm just glad that he was around, even without a romance. He was a great friend to have around.

Just popped in to say: Varric is an excellent companion. I am finding it hard not to take him everywhere. It's really cute when he calls Bethany "lady sunshine".

I thought I remembered some opportunities to flirt with Varric during my first play through, but this time I don't think I actually saw any. Anyone around these parts remember which dialogues you can flirt with him? (Or if you can at all?)

@senorfuzzylips - I only know of the flirt icon that appears if Varric betrays Hawke in the Fade (avoid Merrill and Fenris being in group to trigger this). He will apologize in the Hanged Man and the heart icon will show up. I don't know where the other flirts are. Someone mentioned that they could ask Varric if he was jealous when he inquired about their romance with Anders. That's all I know.
