Thought I would pop in to say, just because I thought of it today, that Varric was ridiculously easy to get along with, which I loved. He was the only character I didn't have to worry about upsetting. I almost never got rivalry points from him, except for once.

During "Shepherding Wolves" when I agreed to escort the Saarebas I got +5 Rivalry from him. Now, I think it actually has something to do with simply agreeing to do the quest without prodding, because you get friendship points if you initially refuse, but agree later. However, when it happened I didn't know this, I had to sit in my chair for a moment, going "What the hell, Varric? All the **** I do and you take issue with this?"

My Hawke was a sarcastic, albeit nice, person so I wasn't doing anything too terrible the rest of the time, but I scratched my head at that one. Oh well. It was the only time he disapproved of me. We got along swimmingly otherwise.

P.S. Actually there was that time I gave the smugglers cargo (I can't remember the woman's name, the one who sponsors my entry into the city) to the Ferelden boy. He didn't like that. But I understand that one.

I love his mock Orlesian accent if you bring him to the De Launcet mansion. Makes me laugh hard.

I *kind* of get why he's not a LI. All playable interests have to have some form of conflict where you need to make hard choices to keep them happy and thigh-sweaty. Varric is exactly how some of you put it, very easy to get along with. He's your go-to guy and all around chum. He doesn't like it when you're too honest or you give away money for nothing, but otherwise he's fairly hard to make angry.

That being said, I also agree with the statement that said all of the other guys are nobs. Bioware really needs to learn how to write men who aren't irritating. I sleep with Anders once, and the dude's all "I love you, can I move in now?". So I reloaded and broke it off before things could get out of hand. I don't feel like they let you get very emotionally invested before they let the characters get crazy needy.

In real life guys like these wouldn't get much from me, that's for sure. I, too, am a Varric kind of girl. Even Alistair from Origins had some seriously cringe-worthy lines.

No, that was just me being stupidly excited about an interview where the dwarven girls were described as roller-derby types in the racial concept art and I wanted to see their new interpretation in-game. Turns out they're not in DA2 at all. Not something I'll pout over, but I do wish I had known ahead of time like we did with qunari females. It was disappointing to find out the hard way.

I think like the female Qunari they were designed but not put into the final game. At least I don't remember seeing anyway. Needless to say it's possibly my biggest complaint with DA2. >.>

Even the father of the two Dwarf boys from Fools Gold was a widow with an Elven servant taking the role. I'm guessing female Dwarves were another victim of the development time?

I miss Sigrun.

My genre savvyness kicked in the moment he started listening to the voice. Everybody knows what must be done in these situations.
