I dunno if anyone brought it up, but having Varric along when you go to question Dulci de Launcet about her son leads to a priceless Varric-moment at the end of the conversation. I love that dwarf.

Ah, Varric thread, I have missed you for so long! Been sort of.. hesitant about the DA2 forums given the reception the game received just after release and have been a bit scared to post in here again. So many new faces, so much more dwarven love!

Oh, is there a list of all the Varric signature banners some where? I need one that fits better with my signature (and I don't think everyone gets "the stone heartbreaker" reference).

I'm working on my second playthrough currently but have enjoyed the dwarf with the golden chest hair far more than I ought to (why is he not romanceable!). I doubt I will ever bring myself to see what he says on rivalry, it's too easy to win him over. My favourite line so far has been the one where he mocks the Orlesians in their own home. Ah, good times, good times.

Stay classy, Varric and fans of Varric (did anyone else think some of the Isabela-Varric banter was inspired by this thread?).

Understandable Leonia, I was hesitant in posting around here again as well. To be honest I've almost given up on actually browing the forum for threads to post in, so full of daft threads as it is. I just keep my eye on my news feed for anything that actually looks interesting heh. This thread is and always has been one of the islands of calm in the ocean of madness though.

I think all the banners are in the OP (with some new ones a few pages back, I'll get the link for you to those). Some of them just don't have the [img] tags in place, but it doesn't take too long to find them as most are labelled as banners.

I doubt I'll ever take his rivalry path as well, he's just too much fun to get along with. If there was a bigger (and more) crisis point(s) for him then maybe I would try it out, but as it is his crisis point comes so late on I'm usually already full friendship with him. Not sure about the Bartrand confrontation, even by then he's usually mostly friendship.

I love the dialogue he has in that Orlesian house as well, classic Varric. I thought the exact same thing as you about the Isabela/Varric dialogue, plus I seem to remember there was some other banter I thought might have been community inspired as well but can't remember which now.

Is there a Varric banner saying 'Stay classy'?

Reading all this, I so want to play the game through again only to listen to all Varric's amazing lines once more. Sadly, I don't like (or have time for) playing the renegade Hawke. Especially when I vowed myself to try Varric's rivalry path. Now I feel tempted to cheat in some negative app points so I wouldn't have to be mean to him

I love Aveline/Varric interaction, especially how he and Isabela tease her. Or the "I think my jaw just landed in the Deep Roads somewhere." after Aveline's speech about the goats and wheat.
And cool Varric pics are always welcome ^^

Unfortunately there aren't many bed scenes because poor Varric either gets stuck in or under it during cutscenes - not to mention BioWare didn't give us any naked dwarven textures for DA2. <_< (except one particular chest of course ^^)

And I must say good work everyone, we were so right about him! He is awesome in just they way we thought he would be. I love the banter, especially between him and Fenris. I haven't really tried bringing both him and Isabela though, seems like it would be good.

I just popped by this thread to say (as I'm sure has been said before, though I'm too lazy to check) oh please, can't we romance Varric in an expansion or DLC? He wouldn't have been my *first* choice, it's true--I'm quite smitten with Anders--but the more I play this game, the more I love Varric.

I...I kind of want to marry him. Oh, please, Bioware, give us a romancable Varric! You don't even have to throw in any big dramatic loss-and-redemption storyline. Just let me run my hands down that magnificent dwarven chest *one time* and I'll be happy.
