This is my canon now. He has to cover the chest hair, too, of course, otherwise they'd recognize him. It all makes sense.

I looked at that picture and I have to say that after the initial shock and horror I'm starting to find it hilarious. Not even such abject defilement can taint the awesome that is Varric. He just throws it right back at you with a smirk.

If he had been in DAO I bet this would have been his Fade nightmare.

Varric is obviously doing it out of concern for Hawke -- that chest hair is simply too distracting and putting a damper on any possible relationship Hawke could otherwise develop.

In Varric's Fade nightmare, not only would he be dressed conservatively and have a proper dwarven beard, he would be unironically discussing the good old days in Orzammar, and how sad it is that it seems like change is forcing its way into the Assembly. And then he'd attend a meeting and do some paperwork.

I picture Varric's Fade to be the Hanged Man (surely that's the given, with the reuse of assets) where a new guild messenger appears every five minutes and makes a beeline for him, without fault. And has him make Important Decisions and sign Important Paperwork.

And with Bianca making googly eyes at them, and squeaking in alluring manner.

So true! I could totally see that happening XD
As for the modded Varric, I found it rather funny once I got past the OH NOES aspect of it. Still. It was wrong. Just, wrong.
