In one of the interviews (or something) it sounded like Varric could assassinate people for you. Shady sidequests don't seem too much of a stretch.

I thought that was more of a general thing, not specifically linked to Varric. It would be interesting to have lackeys do all the dirty work, or have the character who you're doing the quest for actually kill the person.

Enlisting his network to help you with taking care of political competition (as the only review thus far mentioned much politics being in the game) would be an interesting option instead of doing it diplomatically or just straight up killing them yourself.

Oh, the context I am speaking of is in cases where The Warden Hawke would just murderknife a dude during quests. But your idea sounds good too, for a different context.

Mostly because I want to have henchmen or underlings. Being able to hire people for jobs is one of the things I liked with awakenings.

It would be awesome and extremely fittinng given Varric's life.

I wonder how they're gonna work Varric into the story. He's a filthy rich merchant "prince" with loads of cash and men at his disposal. I sure hope they bring that into play somehow. Would be awesome if he had a special move that summoned two randomn dwarfs to fight by your side.

I have a feeling they might outcast Varric somehow.

Hawing Hawke play the lookout for Varric so he can get it on with other women could be pretty cruel.
... so there's probably decent chance exactly that is going to happen.
