I just made a deal with the Hunger Demon in the Deep Roads and it was not going to let me have the treasure.
Then Varric one shot the demon:

Well, you can't. You can try, but the demon gets all suspicious and wants to kill you because it thinks you'll take more than just the key to get out. So you end up killing it anyway.
Same thing with the Feynriel quest where you can agree to let the Shade Demon have him. Nothing you do is correct and Feynriel always realizes that the demon's lies aren't true so he gets mad and leaves and then the Shade Demon says he's not pure anymore and because of that you didn't uphold your part of the bargain and it tries to kill you.

If my source is correct, you have to tell Feynriel that his father never loved him, and I forgot the other choice. (You can't pick "this isn't real" options or help the demons if you want to deal with Torpor.)
