I can't get rival with Varric, it is impossible for me. My friend though, gets rivalry aaaaallll the time.

I can't get rival with Varric, it is impossible for me. My friend though, gets rivalry aaaaallll the time.
I may have a truly evil ManHawke in my future, who will just hate on Varric to no end--just because I want to see that side of the Varric-Hawke dynamic and because with my FemHawkes I can't ever do anything but friend him up as quick possible.
I'm a fan of fanfic and I also think it could be interesting to read a well-written one where Hawke and Varric are always at odds. Rivalries can be intriguing if handled well.

Varric likes people who snark like him and ask him LOTS of questions. Basically, if you want to befriend him, purple option and INVESTIGATE are the key buttons.
Then he dislikes those who go "Don't you talk crap about me!" or "Have YOU any war stories?". Red buttons...

Ahhhhh, I've missed you guys- I've been lurking on the tech help pages since the game came out and the frustration led me to forget, for a short time, that a little visit here and a few minutes with the smexiest dwarf in Thedas could completely make my day better.
Also- I reread the short that Mary posted a while back, and though I believe I've submitted this before, I again propose that she be granted a crown and scepter and be made queen of her own bioware game. Just sayin...

Haha while i don't dislike any companion in DA2 (although Merrill makes me facepalm a lot, especially when you encourage her behaviour) Varric would have been a nice non-screw up romance. He's kinda like Jacob Taylor. With much more snarking. (Jacob can snark too but ME2 severely lacks dialogue).

I prefer friendly Varric. He's too cuddly to for my Hawke to be mean. Besides, rival Hawke doesn't get to stroke the chest hair.
