Ouch...poor Anders...but he kind of deserved it >.< I was not suprised in the slightest that Varric is down the bottom of that poll, even though he himself deserves to be on top of *everything*, because as a companion I can honestly say he's the only one who didn't make me go 'wtf is wrong with you??' at some point, because he was just. So. Awesome.

Is Varric EVER annoying? I always find myself smiling at his quips. Rivalry or Friendship. e.g "No one can sit on their ass eating bon-bons as well you Hawke." (paraphrased sarcastic reply from Varric if Hawke desires to be a noble)

Ello You Varricators, just wanted to say that Varric is one of the better things happened to this game. I just want to grab a sixpack, Nug-jerkies and Varric ofc. Then we will just pass the night with a dozen of ridculous stories, mix it up with some witty jokes and ofc lots of booz. it's the kind of guy you want to keep close to you. Oh and, sorry to ruin this for you ladies, you will never ever get V as a romancable option, he's already taken, Bianca has so much more to offer than you....keep it up with the FanArt!

Thx, TA.  That's exactly who it is! 

I thought she looked much better in the initial clips from the early days. 
You  know...  BR ("Before Release").

So I grabbed a mod that included her .mop, and started my current playthrough from there. 
Wonder how Cassi feels about her twin sister being a mage? 
(It was the Harrowing that turned her hair!  )

Magical white hair..? Kinda like Yue in ATLA ^^ Imho the white hair would be another anime thing ala Fenris but he got lyrium-burned so he's got an excuse. /derail

SO... Did anyone think "ew, another dwarf" when Varric was FIRST MENTIONED without any concept art released..?

My perception was "meh" because Oghren turned from slapstick funny to downright annoying and I expected another bearded drunkard (Oghren 2.0?) dwarf sitting on a chair telling magnificent tales...

I only discovered the craze over "THE chest hair" from another forum discussing BSN activities.

At first I was like "lolwut" then I browsed through and then joined in and the rest is history so to speak.

Varric grew on me as I stayed on the thread, occasionally bumping with relevant posts (especially in Varric thread 2.0 where he gained IIRC the most dev posts regarding a character at the time) and so yeah.

It was pretty awesome that Mary gave us a lot of tidbitz and lolz along the way, we thought we pretty much knew what to expect from Varric in-game and then he far exceeded our expectations and is possibly the most popular character with the least hates overall (based on Fave Characters thread buried somewhere...). Well, he did get a literal handful of hates but IIRC none had any explanation aside from "Dislike: Varric" or "dworfs suk".

Who cares about those snooty people who went "Varric is not an LI lolololol" post-Valentine's announcement? I bet they couldn't resist Varric's awesome and sense of humour, deep down they can't help but like him too. Heck, even rivalry with Varric is hysterical.

Ah shucks. I'm getting all sentimental.

So yeah, Varric for DA3 LI!

Nyan Varric is going to destroy my free time if I'm not careful.

I think that, when Varric was first announced, I probably didn't know about him (too much whining about Hawke on the forums, bad internet connection, blahblahblah...) One of my first experiences with Varric was his wine-sipping scoundrel-smirking concept art with Cassandra... in the first Varric thread. Varric got raised to ME's Garrus levels of awesomeness long before release, and he was even more awesome in-game. Varric's probably my favorite BioWare character. I think the only other characters I've ever predicted that I would like and got nearly as awesome were Merrill and Sigrun.

Heck, Varric is so awesome that even my world-hating all-rivalry Hawke secretly likes him. I just can't make a character that actually hates Varric.
