Varric will have sex with every human in Kirkwall, except Hawke. The city will be repopulated by half-dwarves.

All of them lounging in toddler-chairs classily holding a baby-bottle.

They will once they make different forum catergories. You'll have to remake it in the new section. >:D

It only serves to confirm one of my many half-baked theories, that this thread among all fan-threads takes itself less seriously and is more laid back than, well, most others.

The OP was unable to maintain the first post due to school and other matters, so we requested that the old one be closed and a new one opened with someone who had time for upkeep. It seemed an appropriate time as any to do that xD

I dunno, you guys seem to take your Varric-ing very seriously.  There's just more snark than other threads... not a bad thing necessarily, but certainly an intimidating one to outsiders.

I'm not really a Varric-threader.  I'm just visiting.  And the "seriousness" of Varric-ing is all in your head.  Hang out for a little while and it becomes pretty clear, at least it did to me.

The snark is a sign that we have decent humour. I can't see how that comes off as intimidating and considering how well we receive "new" fans to the thread.. we're a much more inviting and welcoming group than certain others. Not that we're trying to compete with the other fan threads. We won't judge you if Varric isn't your favourite character, that would just be ridiculous and silly.

I think making it appear serious is just part of the overall humour. Well, it is for me at least, i don't really feel any stronger about Varric that i do about the other DA2 companions, and that isn't much at all. But he's good source of fun.

This. We just snark a little while cuddling. Like one big open polygamous relationship.

Also, on a totally random note, but still Varric related, my friend and I got into an argument about chest hair, and its attractiveness on Varric, I was for it she was sadly not. Anyway she posted a coment, Is chest hair sexy, on her facebook page since I don't have one, and it sparked a massive (50+ people)argument about chest hair (Varric would be so proud) and ended with the general consensus that it is sexy. The power of Varric's chest hair knows no bounds.
Edit: I figure now is as good a time as ever to de-lurk for good since I have been following Varric threads since page 1 of the original

Heck, even Brandon Keener is impressed by Varric's chest hair. That's Garrus' seal of classy approval right there.

Well, we do genuinely like Varric as a character and most of us would like to see Varric (and Aveline) as romances. So that's the serious bit. The rest, not so much. I don't actually fetishize either dwarves or body hair (shock!).

Wait. Snark? We snark in style, baaaaabay! Here's a beginner's guide to dwarven snarks for those who need a crash course!

B)

SNARKS AND BARKS!
--------------------------------
"Bemot's beard!"
"Blood of the paragons!"
"Paragon's blood!"
"Paragons of Stone!"
"Paragon's teeth!"
"Caridin's teeth!"
"Nug-dung!"
"What the nug!"
"Bronto ******!"
"Oh, ancestors have mercy."
"Sod it! Sod it all!"
"Stone-cursed duster!"
"By the boots of my ancestors!"
"Blood of my ancestors!"
"Stone-cursed nug whomper!"
"Nug-crud!"
"Dust bugger!"
"Ortan's teeth!"
"I hope you get trampled by a bronto."
"You're going to pay for this... you baseborn dung-beetle!"
"Mother of dust!"
"Sodding ancestors!"
"Sweet bloody Stone!"
"Stone, no!" ("F--k, no!")
"Holy sodding Stone!"
"Well, I'll be a drunken nug."

DWARVEN SLANG
---------------------------
"Veata" is pronounced VEE-et-ah and means "halt."
Example: "Veata! This land is held in trust for the sovereign dwarven kings. I cannot allow entry at this time."

Atrast vala = (a-TRAST VA-la) a formal greeting. (Literally, "speak" or "find your tongue")
Example: "Atrast vala, Warden. Your arrival is a mixed blessing."

"Atrast tunsha" =  (a-TRAST TON-shah)  Goodbye.

Valos atredum = (VAH-lows a-TRAY-doom), the favor of the ancestors.
Example: "It is not just a tournament. It is how the ancestors show valos atredum: their voice."

"Find a vein" = "Strike it rich"
Example: "Where else would I go? Just because you and Rica managed to find a vein doesn't make anything different for the rest of us."

Salroka = (sal-ROW-cah) Friend.

"Feeding the lava" = "Sleeping with the fishes."
Example: "Jarvia's been real shrewd. Some of the men thought Beraht made a bad choice in her, but they're all feeding the lava."

Silk-and-steel duster = Fancy mother****er
Example: "Wait. I heard some silk-and-steel duster was looking for a certain someone all over Dust Town. I'm guessing that's you."

Deep lords = derogatory term for nobles.
Example: "The deep lords burn it into us the day we're born, so no one accidentally oversteps her place."

"No dust off my back." = "No skin off my back."

I quietly seethed a bit...but then I drew some obnoxious fan art and I felt better.

And as a side note I've wanted a Dwarven L.I. since BG II. *lurk*

@Gilsa: Now I can finally express my inner dwarf. (He usually naps next to my inner elf, who curls into a fetal position and cries about how I like dwarves more than elves.)

You've been waiting for an excuse to post these again for a long time, admit it!

Though, I do think that surfacers use different expressions. *wonders if they'll use any of the old dwarven*

So I received my Gameinformaer Magazine in the mail today and there was a big article about DA2 in the center. There was a bit about why we see Qunari in Kirkwall, but the neat thing was that the author explained a little bit about how the quest lines will work. I don't want to go into detail as i would definitely be spoilerific, but I now know how we meet our favorite dwarf and where Anders fits into the whole mess.

Dagnabbitall, I was hoping to stay out of the posting thing. But I've been lurking through the Varric Threads in their numerous incarnations, always lurking...and loving...

But now? Now I have been driven to actually post due to this horror. I...I want my Var-bear. Why are they not giving us the Var-bear? D':

-sniffle- Is it because he's a dwarf? 'Cause he's not really that tiny, he's just compact. He's as much if not more man per cubic inch as anyone else, which means that he is so much more manly due to his dwarven volume.

Tell me we can at least flirt heavily with him? Because fanfiction is a cold comfort. A cold and scary comfort.

Flirt like you kind of could with Oghren? Because those were some good times.

Warden: No, Oghren, I do not want to wax the brass trumpet.

Oghren: That's polish the brass trumpet! Is that all you think about?

But yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I've just been veiwing things from the Mass Effect forums. Didn't want to start picking favorites before the game even came out, but...from what little I know, Varric appeals to me more than the other party members. Height nothing but a thing; he's concentrated manliness. Figured a new thread was a good time to surface, though...compared to what I saw on the Aveline thread (as with Varric, disappointed but not surprised), people here are taking it very well.

Of course, the news came out just as I was warming up to the idea...but if he was written to be a good friend and amusing narrator, I'll take that happily.

It's a little off-topic, but I'm making a Varric reference in my DAO module.

"Suddenly, I want Varric to have a crossbow that fires other crossbows, each of which launches a guy playing electric guitar." ~Mary Kirby
