Online could be cool but there should be a boot option considering the amount of ass holes in today's online gaming world...

But seriously I can see that this game "potentialy" could do a co-op type thing, but that would mean they would have to add in another "PC" to the game, because you only have one truly customizable character to start with, anyone else that jumps in has to play the "supporting character", it sounds like more of a mess than it is worth and it would take away from the storytelling of the game, which is probably what BioWare intends to avoid.

I believe one of the biggest reasons I didn't enjoy Neverwinter Nights 2 was because I played it in co-op. Forced world pausing, rushing game partner and non-optimal playing times made my NWN2 experience pretty much intolerable, and I'd say that one of the reasons I find DAO so enjoyable is because I play it alone, without any distractions.

Dragon Age is a single player game only, DEAL WITH IT and just go play your crappy FPSes or MMOs.

That said, multi-player isn't something I'm particularly looking for (possibly because I can be a bit of an anti-social so and so at times,) and I didn't touch the multi-player options in either of the two games I mentioned.

God...I'm sick of this console generation who thinks everything needs multiplayer.
I bet they say the same thing about PC generation who thinks singleplayer is best.
I personally like Dragon Age as it is, but multiplayer could work if implemented correctly, and made as to be a small side-option and not a large focus of the game. Even Baldur's Gate had some form of multiplayer option in the main menu if I remember right, though I never actually touched it at the time.

If they do add a multiplayer aspect then id rather see it as a social addition not a gameplay addition. In that like this social site they created a city that only those who are connected to the social site servers, or to an independant game server, could access. Once inside the city, they are without there party, so no repetative npc's walking around with everyone, and it stands as a trade hub, item storage ect ect all linked to the server. This way people could meet up and explore the social aspects of a roleplaying game.
For example, bars and pubs to drink with mates, brothels, a bank for storage, party areas, generaly a social space for others to interact, markets to trade, maybe an auction space for items.. MAYBE an arena /gladitorial style area where everyone could watch two players go against each other (not instanced fighting as that requires increased servers and player balancing which would ruin the game entirely).
Co-op isnt suited to a linear storybased game in that it forces the people co-opping to be at the same stage of the story.
Really any realistic multiplayer content will be there to add to the social and communicative opertunities that go along with the roleplaying game style, giving players more freedom to act out there roles in a non-combat setting.

Regardless, the notion that a multiplayer OPTION would somehow ruin the game is so ridiculous I can't even wrap my head around it. Did the OPTION of playing with your friends ruin Diablo? How about Never Winter Nights? Did it ruin Baldur's Gate? Baldur's Gate II? Baldur's Gate III?
When, in the history of the world, has more OPTIONS ever ruined anything? A multiplayer OPTION could be completely ignored by the lonely types who like to sit alone in their basement all day and they would be no worse off, meanwhile the folks who enjoy playing with other people would be much better off.
I don't think anybody is suggesting that Dragon Age should be a mandatory MMORPG, but many of us would like to see a multiplayer option. I'm seeing something where each member of your party would be another player character and together you would go off adventuring.
I think the game is very enjoyable as a single player game, but adding a multiplayer element could only possibly make it better. A multiplayer option would be the perfect sort of thing to include in future expansions of the game,
I simply cannot figure out why people could be opposed to being given the OPTION to play with their friends... I suppose the same people who find it entertaining to play D&D by themselves as well.

You will have all played an MMO at some point, wether it be EQII, or Guild wars.
Want to take a wild guess at the chances of finding 3 people willing to bother sitting through a cut scene ? or scratch theyre arses while someone talks to an npc ?
I like to read every line, explore every corner, and watch the cut scenes in full.
something i would find myself very much alone in, were i to go online, at the first sign of whining about a cut scene, i would be gone.

Bioware dont do multiplayer... successfull multiplayer interfaces and options only come from years of experienced programmers who are used to working with a multiplayer system.. bioware dont have this.
Bioware has quite a lot of multiplayer experience. The beforementioned NWN has it (and had much success with it), plus they are currently working on their own MMO, Star Wars - The Old Republic.

Over half of the games release by Bioware have had a multiplayer component, specifically Never Winter Nights and Baldur's Gate. Since this is supposed to be the successor to Baldur's Gate, it would make sense to include a similar multiplayer element.FatedHeart wrote...

But there was apparantly a Boulder's Gate III...
In other news, multi-player won't work HERE, at least not well. I can think of a way to implement it that could work, but it isn't ideal - it would in essence create a file that could ONLY be played on multiplayer, and radically reduce possible party combinations, all while taking away from the combat system in broad strokes, or providing an avenue for instant strife.
