When I first saw the Dragon Age II Rise to Power trailer it made me think:
"Man, this will probally be a let down" Then 2 months later I come back to this and I'm more excited then ever. Has anybody else had a simular thought when they saw the Rise To Power trailer?

Yes, I was skeptical. In fact, there's a few elements I'm still skeptical of. But I'm optimistic about the parts I find most important.

No, I've liked everything I've heard from the very beginning. I'm not the type that jumps to extreme conclusions based on very little info.

Oh, I wasn't talking about you. Just the "THIS GAME R HACKSLASH" crowd in general that formed around the time the game was announced. A little skepticism is perfectly reasonable.

I'm not huge on the Mass Effect series because I'm not huge on shooters. The story is good, though.

I'm largely skeptical. And I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I also realize, though, that I'm an odd duck here on the BSN.

I love Thedas. There is so much I want to do and see and explore. I want to know how my decisions shaped the world I'll be playing in. I want to go into greater depth with some of the themes they toyed with in Origins and are expanding on in DA2. I want to delve into the political structure and dirty my hands in it from the ground up. I'm ecstatic about the framed narrative with the unreliable narrator. I want to know Hawke's story - both the real account and Varric's retelling.

However. I was deeply attached to my (canon) Warden. I cared about her story and felt that, unless the player romanced Morrigan, there was no closure for the Warden. Now, I'm not saying I want to play my Warden again in DA2. I'm not saying I expect to play her ever again. I'm just really miffed that there wasn't even a final epilogue slide about her after Witch Hunt. Morrigan left her something, but I have no clue what it was. Was it Flemeth's Grimoire (a practical gift if Morrigan was no longer in need of it)? Was it that golden mirror (a trivial sentimentality to remember a friendship by)? I don't know if my Warden is going to be able to find Morrigan again or not. I don't know if she simply went off to her Calling. And that's a bit of a problem for me for one main reason: I don't want to become as invested in Hawke's story and have Hawke suffer the same lack of closure before being forced to move on to DA3.

I suppose therein lies the rub. I want to explore the world Bioware has created and all it has to offer. But I don't want to become attached to a character that will simply be dropped for the Next Big Thing. Don't get me wrong. I have a Signature Edition on preorder. I will definitely pick it up as soon as I an on March 8th (anybody know if Gamestop is doing a midnight release?). But that doesn't mean there aren't still things that concern me that will most likely continue to do so until DA3 is released.

Mt faith in Bioware never faultered, but it did seem a little soon. DA2 was in development before Origins was done though, so it still had over a 2 year development cycle I believe. Thats more than long enough for Bioware to top themselves.

I was skeptical when I heard about the Hawke concept (voiced pre-set PC), but open-minded.

I am not skeptical anymore as it looks like it has been handled well.

When I first saw Varric for the first time, I feel sick already.
That because I always be the storyteller myself  in Neverwinter Night, Neverwinter Night 2 and Dragon Age Origin.

Then I wonder, since when I have other person voice.
But it's ok now. Female Hawke's voice is enchanting. Though still not my voice.

Then I became paranoid with the paraphrase system.
But it's ok now. I get to choose the tone accordingly thus preventing the same horrible experience I had with Shepard. ( Shepard cannot tell the difference between praising and wooing. I end up romancing Tali instead of Lawson. )

Then I was furious because Varric will be exaggerating my story.
But it's ok now. He wants to protect me from The Seeker. Still I'm going to kick his b*tt all over Kirkwall if he dares to lie about my gender and class. And I'm going to make sure he sleeps most to the time so he that can't tell the true story. Muahahaha

Ah.. well. That's just me.

I still remember checking out these forums last summer when all the changes were being announced for the first time and the screens from the alpha build were released. Some even went as far as to say they won't be buying the game. And of course there was the:

"DUDE, WHERE'S MY WARDEN??"

"WTF ACTION RPG HACK 'N SLASH"

"HUMAN PROTAGONIST OMG "

The first time I saw the destiny trailer...

"Where's my Warden?!?!?!??!?!?"

It passed after a few weeks and I started to love the idea :)

I was sceptical when I saw the very first screenshots (in like August-September maybe?), and when I heard some things about how they were going to 'streamline' the game. Bioware wasn't very good at wording what they wanted to do, but once we got to actually see and hear more about the game I was actally very pumped for the game. I think I was onboard 110% in November or something like that, and I've never looked back.

I'm still skeptical about Hawke. It hinges on how well that whole concept of shaping his/her personality through dialogue choices is implemented. And obviously the story, gameplay and characters have to not suck.
